Make no mistake this is a great course, by any standars. We've played enarlxy 200 courses, and this is up with the best. There are so many dangers (ditches, ponds, loads of enormous bunkers) here it's incredible. In good condition, and very cheap with a county car.A real gem this one. So much so we're coming back next week to get our revenge (hopefully)

8/10/13 First green was poor , weeds in it & patchy ,so it was a bad start. Rest of greens all had weeds evident. The bunkering is way over the top & especialy on 3,7 & 14. Some of the bunker positions are utterly pointless. These bunkers must be costly to maintain to the detrment of the rest of the course No colour greens flag coding to indicate the position on the green IE; Red for front, Yellow for middle etc. Yardage from fairway surface only, no 150 yard posts that are so easy to locate. Pampas grass out of keeping as well, so "Essex" !! Members have a reputation here, & 2 invited themselves to join us for the last 2 holes, we were dumbfounded.!!! Was thinking of joing here until I plyed it.

I played WMGC last Friday at £25 with breakfast/lunch included (although £5 for two cokes seemed a little steep. The course itself is a good design in a good easy to get to location (unless you need to get on the M25 or M11 (north bound) – and for the short accurate hitter like me the course presented lots of risk & reward challenges especially with some very tricky pin positions. Generally the fairways and greens were in good condition, but far too many tee boxes looked in need of attention and if not dealt soon will spoil a good course. Likewise – far too many bunkers were lacking any sand! Was it VFM probably not especially with all the 2fore1 type deals available.

Used a Groupon voucher for golf and lunch for 2 @ £29. Absolute bargain! Considering the recent weather, course was in excellent condition. Fairways and greens were firm and dry, with a decent covering of grass. Rough had been cut despite the rain last week. Staff vey friendly and accommodating. Would definately return and recommend it to anyone.

I recently decided to give this course a try having purchased a Groupon deal that gave 18 holes of golf plus lunch for £15. On turning up my playing partner and I were given a warm welcome at the bar and were advised we could have a meal off the menu or speak to the chef on the bar-b-q outside. Having plumped for the bar-b-q we were not disappointed and were given a hearty lunch which gave us the energy for the 18 holes ahead. The club house appears to be a good facility and there is a small pro shop to stock up at. As an occasional player with a high handicap looking to improve, the course I have to say is the most challenging in the area I have played but boy did I like it! I played with a friend who used to be a member of the club (he gave it up on cost grounds) to guide me round and give me the low down on the course as we went round and what to expect. They certainly like their sand here, and one hole resembles Camber Sands with its massive bunker in front. This course really makes you think about your shots with plenty of hazards or deceptive layouts which will either reward good play or frustrate your round. Due to the time of year I did not notice any drainage problems, and the noise from the motorway really was not an issue. Other than a bit of snobbery towards Groupon players by a course official (I can understand that there will be some players who turn up just to hack the course but don't tar us all with the same brush!) this was a very good offer for what is an expensive course. I would really like to return to this course again, but given the high prices and the abundance of other courses in the area offering cheaper green fees and packages I doubt I will get the chance unless another Groupon deal or similar is offered (hence the low score on value for money).

Great course & very challenging for any standard of golfer,it was in excellent condition & when you stand on some of the tees & look down the fairway you wonder how you can miss a bunker(i should have taken a bucket & spade the amount i went in).Our society took 40 players there & the course coped with us all very well & the feedback was excellent on all fronts & is a definite one too pencil in for next year.

Easy course to get to just off the M11. Hard course to play leave the woods at home you will need to keep looking at hte scorecard map to ensure you don't hit the bunkers as they are more like southend sea front than a bunker. Woolston is great to improve your handi cap as you really need to think about your shoots rather than getting the big guns out and seeing how far you can drive.

I like this course, so much I joined it. Yes it is close to the M11, but that makes it easy to get to, I can reach it in less than 30 minutes from the City, ideal for squeezing in those rounds, after work. It is a testing track, with plenty of hazards to avoid, no booming the driver and out with the wedge, you have to think your way round, there are only a couple of holes where you are really thinking birdie on the tee. The members assure me it has done wonders for their handicap as a result, Neil Coles has done an excellent job with this piece of land.

Reasonable course but at £27-50 on a visitors ticket it's not that nice! Plus it is bounded by the M11 and busy roads so all the way round you have to compete with traffic noise spoiling the round. A lot of money for an average course.
