10 reviews of Woodlands Golf and Country Club

New lay-outs now finalised. We played the longer 'Masters' course (6,111 yards) in February when the ground conditions were very good for the time of year. Little to critise other than the obvious newness which no doubt will fast disappear. Some of the par 5s might be rated par 4s elsewhere, but not much else to grumble about.

Wow!Woodlands is currently in a state of change-only 10 of the old holes are currently in play with 6 new holes being introduced over the last month or so.Ignore the tipping and landscaping going on and concentrate on what is in front of you.The new holes are fantastic -great greens that will test even the seasoned pro and some brilliantly thought out holes. With more new holes being introduced over the next two years, I can't wait for more. This golf club is being transformed-come along for the ride

First time. Bit of a wait at first tee, but it was Saturday near end of November, so no real difference from others. Nice forgiving course, water in just about the right places and not too wet underfoot. Bit of distraction with the heavy plant close by. Clubhouse cosy and pro shop well stocked. I enjoyed my golf there.

Having just returned from playin my first round at woodlands i am in mixed minds about what i thought. The club house and pro shop (though not as stocked as some) were all to a spendid standard and look very well maintained. Upon arrival i was astonished by the number of carts available to hire, more than any i had seen before. As i was playin on my own for the day i decided to walk and use my own trolley. As it rained heavily a few days before, i was expecting the conditions under foot to be soggy but found that is was not that bad, due to good drainage i assume. Apart from the que for the first tee (as expected at this price) i found the whole experience very good and found the course very challenging yet very forgiving. the fairways on many of the longer holes are very wide and forgive those who are not hitting completely straight yet. My only gripes, which are probably trivial were firstly the condition of the tee surfaces and how a few seemed very off level. i have never come across this before and found it quite suprising. other then that it seemed that the greens hadnt been cut recently and were very bumpy and un even, makin puttin more difficult than usual. apart from that, like i said, a very good course and i will definately be revisting in the near future.

Absolute bargain for the price, I've played right through the winter on this course & standards of fairways & greens have been maintained in tip-top condition, many other more expensive courses have not compared, its also easy to get to, just off the M5, keep up the good work Woodlands.

This course has improved greatly over the last 12 months - the greens are fantastic and for just £14 a round, it has got to be the best value golf in Bristol.Watch out for the Canadian geese!! Highly recommended.

This course has serious overcrowding problems-avoid on a good sunny day, or be prepared to have your game ruined by sheer numbers. Why can't you book a teetime? This would make your round far more enjoyable and a little less stresful. A few interesting holes spoilt by the time it takes to play them.

A nice course in the summer but awful in the winter. Played this course twice over the winter when any sensible club would have closed the course - the third and 14th being virtually unplayable. Received no sympathy on complaining about paying full fees for playing in what was basically a quagmire.

Positives: Good value for money. Good condition. A thinking person's course - few of the par 4s allow you to go hell-for-leather with the driver. You'd also never guess that the course is on the corner of two motorways as it's such a peacefull environment. Negative: Can get very busy (which I suppose is a reflection on the positives). The only other negative I can think of is that someone needs to re-measure the course and re-evaluate the SSS. There is no way that the yellow tees (67) should have a SSS two lower than the white tees (69) as the distance differential is small despite what it says on the scorecard. To summarise, I keep returning to this course and, during off-peak times, I've always enjoyed the round.

Woodlands has been recently taken over by Tracy Park Golf Club and has improved greatly. It is a tricky course and will suit both high and low handicappers. Their current phone number is 01454 619319.
