Played this course in May 2009 and have to say for £15 it was a bargain! Fantastic layout, greens were the perfect speed and very true, interesting holes and a well stocked pro shop. The members that we passed were very friendly and acknowledged us which is always good to see. I scored pretty well and could easily shave off 5 or 6 shots when I return just by knowing the course. TIP: driver not always necessary! When playing this course you would not think you were on the outskirts of Newcastle! Brilliant!Links in the sky, wow what a track. I was spell bound from the start, every hole from start to finnishwas a real treat. BUT the greens did not match the the rest of the course.
The locals and staff were friendly and food was great.
i played here at westerhope on the 1st June 09 on the special offer of £15 after 4pm.
the pro was very friendly and pointed out where the driving net was and the putting green. we had terrific weather and the course was a joy to play.
the greens were in brilliant condition and were true to putt on and the fairways were well cut and nicely presented. the rough however was very punishing so the aim of the game here was to hit the fairway to keep your score low, which my playing partner and myself seemed to manage.
there were several stand out holes for me, with the 6th, 3rd, 17th and the 11th probably my favourites.
i will definately be returning during the summer if the club keep the special offer on as £15 is a real bargain in my opinion. i would give it a solid 8 out of 10 overall.
Played Westerhope recently and it was in very good condition (as it always seems to be)
Course is a good test with a variety of shots required and terrific value for money.
Club house well supported, with friendly members and good grub.
recently joined this course as an junior member as i player with a few friends in the summer holidays 2005 and it has some great and challenging holes, you need to be straight and accurate at all times as the tree lines on most fairways are very dense trees and cost u atleast a shot to chip out that is 18 a round if u dont think about your game!

what i say is hit the green not reach it meaning take the club that you are confortable with to hit the green not the club u will have to strugle with, stick to fairways and shoot low scores simple, overall BEAUTIFUL course:)
Nice course with good variety of holes. The tree lined fairways make wayward shots difficult as you'll often find yourself behing a well established tree ! - overall, definitely worth further rounds.
Played the course 06/05/02. Although £20 we found it to be a nice course. It is well established and was in very good condition. The conclusion at the end of the round was that it is certainly worth another visit. Only gripe is that you have to play to some of the greens blindly and a visible marker above the greens would be useful for first time players. For turn-up-and-play worth a look. Appeared to have a well stocked pro shop but didn't accept creditcard payment for the round so take some cash.
the general condition of the course was good but if the club want to charge £18 per round they should do something with the greens , which were all in very poor condition , or reduce the cost .
