The course is a very plesent parkland lay out with some challenging holes. The pro asked us our handicaps and then let us play off the whites which alters the course conciderably. The fairway are not to narrow but you have to put the ball in the right part to gain an advantage for a easier shot to the green. The green were good but not fast, this was due to the very wet start to september and the rest of the course has held up well.
I would like to thank the pro who was very helpful in every aspect, it's just ashame he retires soon, good luck to him.
Very good test of golf and easy to see why the R&A come here for Open Qualifying (although this seems to have gone to the heads of several staff and members who constantly remind you!)
Set in parkland around Staffordshire, the course undulates quite a bit and there are no prizes for being a big hitter, accuracy is very important. The greens are quick and there are some cracking holes, 7 and 12 stood out for me, although the finish in front of the clubhouse at 18 is good too - no margin for error, take half a club too much and it's through the patio and out of bounds!
The clubhouse is small and cosy - I don't know how they cope with big societies but it doesn't feel that big, if you know what I mean. Very nice throughout though and food reasonable.
PLAYED THIS COURSE SEVERAL TIMES AND ENJOYED EVERYONE OF THEM. A CRACKING TEST OF GOLF
