This was my first time at Top Meadow and overall I enjoyed my experience. It's a relaxed club that doesn't take itself too seriously and if I lived closer I think I would consider membership there. We played on a summer evening for the bargain price of £8 twighlight rate. The practice facilities are adequate although the putting green doesn't really aid practice pre-round as it's very uneven and has lots of bare patches (bare in mind this was in the summer after a long dry spell). Onto the course then and it was an all round enjoyable evening with both me and my playing partner being 28 handicappers. The greens are very lush and green and the majority of bunkers are well sanded. The front nine is the shorter of the two loops and has some nice holes, the par 3 5th being one I really liked. The back nine is, to be perfectly honest, overly long and a bit brutal at times. The par 5 10th feels like 2 holes (there is an old tee mound part way down the left side of the fairway) and had hazards all over the place requiring either monster hitting or pinpoint accuracy, which few of the other holes ask for. We were fortunate that it had been so dry as this meant the ball rolled much further and probably saved several shots around the course but at the same time also resulted in some good shots rolling under the small trees that line the fairways. Other things to note are the lengthy walks from some greens to tees and also the fantastic red fruits to be had from the red leaved bushes around the course! They were delicious. Overall, this is probably not a course I would play again as too many of the holes feel the same. Most of the greens are very open at the front and not varied in height enough. If some more variation and imagination could be added to the holes, it would be more enticing.

Been playing Top Meadow for about 2 years now , since my father passed away who was a regular player of the course. While it is not that much of a testing course the quality of the fairways and the greens has been excellent. Played today and my partner got a hole in 1 albatross on the par 4 6th. Something i will always remember. Well done mate and RIP Dad!!

Joined this year, after having transferred from another local course. Course is in excellent condition and the Greens fast. Obvious signs that everything is being done to make a round at Top Meadow an enjoyable one for whatever standard of golfer you are.

Have played this course a few times this year and most recently last week. The course is in great condition although the greens need a little more work. For a great day out and excellent value for money GO AND PLAY IT!

i have played here about 5 times and liked it less each time. although relatively cheap it still isn't worth the money. for the high handicappers some holes, particularly the 18th are a challenge but there are far better local courses

I played here last week with a view to joining, after this experience I will not be joining. The condition of the course was poor with several areas where work had appeared to have been started but not finished. The place has potential and there is plenty of work going on, the rebuilding of the “Hotel” seems to be taking priority at the expense of the course. I hope they have some members left when it is all done.

Played today as a visitor having played the course on numerous occasions in the past. Quite disappointed - the course was scruffy in places with many dead trees, at least one broken seat, unfinished drainage work, and plenty of litter. The fairways were fair but the greens were poor(diseased) with many unrepaired pitchmarks.(I repaired 8 on 1 green alone) Is this a reflection on the way that the members think about the course? Poor value for money even at £12 for the round

Played this course a few times before joining in April this year. Excellent course condition with some interesting holes esp the signature 18th par 3. Excellent changing facilities and they are currently refurbishing the clubhouse. Superb value at £53 a month.

Excellent course for the money, nice new changing facilities. Played the course a few times now and probably will join soon. Some nice holes and the greens were lovely, 18th is a great finishing hole with stadium effect for a society finish.

Just become a member. Excellent value at 41.25 a month. The course is in great shape and some very varied holes. Greens are fast and in superb condition. I would highly recommend this course

Joined Top Meadow Feb 03. Best value for golf that I am aware of anywhere in Essex/Kent. £ 41.50 a mth for a 7 day ticket. We had a society day, tea + roll, 9 holes, large ploughmans lumch, 18 holes and an excellent 3 course meal for £26.50 each in July 02. Course quite undulating, back 9 harder then front 9. Holes are varied and greens very fast even in February. New changing rooms have been built and new rooms added to the hotel. Well worth a try. Gary Pursey

Have visited again this year and again found the course to be in reasonable condition. For the cost you would be hard pushed to find fault.

Excellent valueat £12. The greens are superb at the moment. The course is quite wide with some good driving holes. The changing rooms are not great but the eating area has been extended and the food is excellent. The £12 includes a hackers breakfast, best eaten after your round. Best value around these parts. Living locally so I have never stayed in the accomodation. Worst features:- long walks between several of the holes and poor signing between holes.

Although very cheap, accomodation in wooden building,no smoking, furniture poor but beds good.Dinner set menu or ten pound allowance.Course tight but long.Pro shop unfriendly and the staff in the clubhouse seemed to all want someone else to be told of any problems.Shame, but even so good value for visiting societies.

Couldnt beleive how nice the accomodation, Food & course was considering the amount it cost. Exceptional value for money. The course not too tricky but enough to entertain all levels of golfer. We took a party of eight for a weekend and are already planning this years trip. Excellent !!!!!
