What a nicely laid out course, and in good condition. The greens had been hollow tine 2 days before our visit but were still very good and true to putt on as they had been done correctly!.The Pro Jamie was very helpful and welcoming. The London Pride in the bar was just excellent and served up with a smile and a chat by Rosie, will be back to play here again.

What a shame you are still printing reviews as far back as 2004. The Springs golf club has only been open about 14 years so of course there was still a lot of work to be done in the early years. Perhaps these visitors should re-visit The Springs - they may be pleasantly surprised.

I am regular visitor to the area and probably play here a couple of times a year. The course is usually kept well, but not outstanding, a few holes are a bit barren and the many of the trees have yet to fill out. However some well placed bunkers and water hazards and a couple of tricky pin positions make for an interesting round. Shame you dont see much of the Thames since it is literally a sand wedge away at times. Ive played it for £15 on a twilight ticket which is decent value. Full price, if it is £35, is a bit steep.

Our society did a sunday saver stop-over here & would never go back again the whole experience was a shambles. Hotel policy is to give 4 weeks notice to cancel rooms,i had 4 people pull out 27 days before we were due to go so i contacted them about this, the manager said it shouldn't be a problem but did point out that i was only giving them 27 days notice & not 28. After phoning the hotel several times afterwards to find out what was going on,no-one had the decency to phone me back. On arrival reception told me i had to pay for cancelled rooms(£360)& threatened to call the police if we tried to leave without paying. This attitude shocked us as a greeting at a hotel. After arguing about this issue for an hour we were going to walk away and not bother with the whole thing but he dramatically changed his mind & we didn't have to pay for the cancelled rooms. Anyway we found the course not very challenging at all,the members were not very welcoming. In the evening we did not get our dinner served until 22:30 & considering it was booked for 20:00 you can imagine we were not very happy as our sweets were being served at the same time as they were closing the bar. Advice to anyone DONT BOTHER

Having just played this course, I would echo some of the previous comments..... It is a little flat but water comes in to play on several holes. It is well-maintained, with excellent bunkers and lightning greens, despite the recent rain providing a thoroughly enjoyable round. I used a 2-fore-1 voucher on a weekend, otherwise £45 is far too expensive. Under £25 is a lot more reasonable. I didn't get chance to use the off-course or practise facilities. In a nice part of the country, I would gladly play here again.

A new course opened in 1998 that I played 3 or 4 years ago, and played again this year. I was quite disappointed how little the course had matured, with it still having quite a barren feel. The course is flat, fairly featureless parkland stretching down to the River Thames, but the river is barely noticeable except for beside the 15th. General layout and maintenance of the course is average. Quite expensive for what it is unless using a 241 voucher or other discount scheme. Might try it again in another 3 or 4 years to see if it has matured further.

The course itself is not bad - but a bit flat. Greens were pretty good. Some interesting holes with water, plenty of bunkers. A couple of "fill in" holes when you go through the other side of a hedge. Played in April for £10 when you book online which is fantastic value but normally £35 I would say is at least £10 too expensive. Very nice clubhouse though.

Just reading these contrasting reviews regarding the Springs. Overall it is an average course with 1 major problem - it offers shocking value for money. The greens are nowhere near good enough for a course charging £30+, the general course is ok - but nothing special. There are too many superior courses to mention in the Oxon & Bucks region and some of the reviews of this course begger belief. I class the Springs in the "£20 bracket". I would also like to thank Adrian Stiff for his review of the course even though he has never played it!! A real help Adrian.

Mr How's comments should be removed if he does not know who Brian Huggett is. Brian is a very competent golf course architect, not to mention one our finest Ryder cuppers. Ive never played the Springs so cant comment, but the prices seem fair. Looks worth a visit to me.

Thoroughly enjoyable! The golf course, clubhouse and hotel are superb, and the staff are friendly and helpful also. All round an enjoyable day had by all, and most definitely value for money! Id recommend it to anyone.

I found the whole club very welcoming. From the moment the friendly Pro and his staff welcomed us, to the hearty bacon rolls before our round to the wide choice of specials on offer for lunch afterwards. Unlike some other people that have commented so far I have no problem with the price, in fact at only £29 per person I find it to be just under the average for the BB&O area. I would recomend you play as I think it's a hidden gem. Better than any other local venues for sure! *****

Played the course in September. Found the greens running true, not overly fast but they were going in. Very well stocked pro shop, I even had a lesson with one of the Pro's- David...very helpful too-computer analysis thrown in too. Terrific value also.

Sounds like the comments of Alistair are about as useful as he is on the golf course. Brian Hugget was Wales' most famous and successful professional golfer, granted he preceeded the main tv era, and is not as famous to the golfing masses as Ian Woosnam. He has been just awarded life membership of the PGA on the back of his services to world golf. So if you do not know him it is not because of his lack of ability! And I take it he have never played in a Ryder Cup,and as the Springs will probably never hold the event it is pointless comparing it to something he blatantly knows nothing about. I found the details of this course through this website. Played it twice and liked the people so much I joined the club. I can recommend it to most golfers.

the set up of the course is along the lines of drayton park which is 5 miles down the road, the one thing that is different tho, is the price! there is no way on gods earth that the course is worth the money they ask, if u have a 2-4-1 then fine u get value but without one go to drayton its half the price and just as much fun if not more.

Played the back nine and the same comments ring true. Doesn't feel like the challenge of the Ryder cup star ( who I never heard of) who designed it. Still not getting the message on the prices

Played May 05 - first 9 holes. Nice open parkland style course with wide fairways which along with the greens were in excellent condition. There are several deep greenside bunkers and some on the fairway which provide the only real obstacles. I understand that water comes into play more on the back 9. However this seems to attract geese who s**t all over the teeing areas and fairways. I found the first 9 holes very similar and a bit boring and I think the problem is that they always encourage a long drive where most of the time you can keep out of trouble. The practise areas were excellent and anyone with a spare 30 minutes could probably play these for free. An excellent chipping green. I played at 6pm as a hotel guest and felt £16 for 9 holes was steep. Overall - a nice course but I will probably look for something with a bit more challenge at a reasonable price.

Played the course on 25th June. Have played it a couple of times previously, and must say that it is maturing nicely. The course is complimented by a nice clubhouse and adjacent hotel which provides a great setting and commendable food. Only negative comment was the quality of the greens, which had uneven pace. But overall, I'd recommend playing there.
