Played here on 7/9/2010. After being underwhelmed by a water laden 1990’s course the day before this was a proper golf course. Beautiful mature holes lined by fir and oak trees, undulating fairways and magnificent greens. I wished I was a member and not just visiting. Facilities were good, members very welcoming and the best cod, chips and mushy peas I have had for yonks!

Lovely parkland setting a few miles north of Newcastle. The course was in good nick when we visited in early-June and the greens were starting to play really quickly. The clubhouse looks a little old-fashioned in places and the locker rooms could do with updating, but that doesn't detract from the golf in any way. Highly recommended for societies or away days as the course is not too taxing for the high handicappers but is tough enough to make it worthwhile for the better players. They are also a very welcoming team there, although there were very few members around so I could not comment on previous comments written about the members in the Men's bar.

We recently to a party of 30+ to Morpeth and the feedback from the vast majority of our golfers was very positive. We received a warm welcome in the clubhouse from both staff and members. The course itself although not too long offers a variety of challenges to golfers of all abilities. Our handicaps ranged from scratch to 22 so we look for a fair course to accomodate our trips. Morpeth gave us this, with a course set up to reward good shots and true greens of a reasonable pace. I for one will look forward to returning here in the near future.

The course is very in excellent condition in the summer months but before it really isnt worth picking up the clubs!! Friendly people all about the club, but still an unwelcoming atmosphere in the mens bar!!!

THIS COURSE IS NOT LONG BUT THE DESIGN OF MANY OF IT'S HOLES WILL TEST GOLFERS OF EVERY HANDICAP.HOLES WORTHY OF MENTION INCLUDE THE 3RD A PAR FIVE WHICH IS ALWAYS TRICKY TO PAR.THE 5TH A PAR 4 WHERE A BOGEY IS A GOOD SCORE AND IN MY OPINION THE PAR 4 11TH,A HOLE WHERE IF THE WIND IS BLOWING TROUBLE BECKONS FROM THE TEE BOX. A COURSE THAT IS ALWAYS IN FIRST CLASS CONDITION WITH FAST GREENS FROM MAY ONWARDS AND FAIRWAYS AS FIRM BUT AS SWEET AS YOU COULD WISH FOR. WELL WORTH A VISIT AND A WARM WELCOME IN THE CLUBHOUSE ALSO.

played 01/04.00, mature course in nice surroundings. a little disappointed with the state of the greens and fairways even allowing for being very early in the season.
