2 reviews of The Lambourne Golf Club
My wife and I played the course this week as part of a trip to watch the BMW PGA at Wentworth. We thought it a very pleasant golfing experience and unlike the previous reviewer, plenty of a challenge. The club lets the visitor play off any tee. I played off the whites, but the blues provide seven par fours from 400 to 448 yards. Enough of a challenge for anyone! It is a very pretty, heavily wooded parkland stretch with a great deal of variety, many interesting holes and level changes. And it was in very good condition. The fairways in particular provided a super playing surface. The azaleas were in bloom and there was a little feel of Augusta here and there if that's not stretching the imagination a bit. My wife liked the generous red tee positions. Clubhouse and food were excellent. We liked The Lambourne Club!
The approach to the club is very pretty, and the clubhouse is nicely decorated. All looked very promising.
However, while the course is in very good condition, it's just not that challenging for the low to mid handicapper.
Fairways are wide, with light rough.A little bit up and down, especially on the front 9.
They ask £70, which is too much. With a county card it's £30, but even at that price we won't be going back. Much better is Burnham Beeches, which is just down the road.
