I live locally but finally got to play this course for the first time in 8 years. This gives true meaning to 'parkland course'. If you forgot you had your clubs with you, you may as I did think you were in a park. Plenty if trees lining the fairways, water features and very green.
Course was in good condition, well watered but not too much, clubhouse and bar are small but welcoming.
Pros: not too testing but still enough for all golfers to be interesting. Well kept course.
Cons: holes run parallel quite a lot so frequently have other golfers on your fairways. Gets flooded easily when wet. Fairways quite long. Greens were inconsistent when I played but not fair would need more rounds.
I'm a member at this club and its one of the only courses in the area thats actually spending on it, which has greatly improved the golf course. The clubhouse and practice facilities are great and it has a very welcoming feel to it. All the guests I have taken to the club have had a great time, the greens are in excellent shape and the new water features have totally changed several holes on the course.
The mature cousre is a credit to the North East. Despite the heavy rains that fell during the week, the fairways were lovely and spongy with the greens taking a ball very well. The greens were true, what you saw you got. I have seen the cousre change over the past 25 years and would readily play it again.
The food was excellent with a very impressive clubhouse and friendly staff, both on the course and off it.
