Hit my first ever golf ball on this course XX years ago, so I was looking forward to the re-visit. Didn't start well with no bacon or sausage delivered that morning. After offering to go down the road to Tesco's to get some the staff rallied round and produced a modified breakfast - good effort. Being a novice last time I played it I did not realise how dangerous the place was. It really needs traffic light at some of the (many) crossovers. It is a very tight course on a small acreage and with gorse and trees aplenty you need to keep a tight reign on when to use your driver - pity I left my 2 iron out of the bag. In the wettest winter for years it was reasonably dry on the lower level, but all the greens were very soggy and as a result deep footprints (esp. soft spikes!!)abounded. Why under these conditions would the green staff use heavy mechanical mowers to cut the green? People were asking for relief from tyre tracks before putting, no good however, when they went straight through the hole. So overall a disappointing day, but I would think it may be better in the Summer, but be careful if the course is crowded.
Played this course several times with a member and found that everytime i go back i enjoy it more. The greens a fast and true , fairways are tight ,only thing bad is the cross over fairways.Look forward to playing it again soon, this is a must course to play.
