10 reviews of Springwater Golf Club

I played 36 holes here using my greenfree voucher (which made it £16 each for 36 holes)and we really enjoyed the challenge. Some very interesting holes with quick greens and some lovely scenery makes for a very nice course. my only gripe was that they had stopped serving food at about 5. But definitely worth a return.

An interesting layout which has the potential to be so much better with a little TLC. The greens are true enough but astonishingly slow, and some of the bunkers are in real need of attention. Get the ball away from the tee and there are some real possibilities here, as this course is not long, and this aspect gives me cause for some annoyance, as some of the yardages from the tee blocks are really very, very inaccurate. Just one or two examples - during a 36 hole visit I drove the 7th green twice off the yellows, and the card and board on the tee have it measuring 377 yards. My GPS and Google Earth both have it some 60 yards shorter (the fact I drove it owes much to the firm conditions, by the way!). This annoyance becomes anger at the par 3's - 13 is probably 25 yards shorter than the card and board claim, and 18 is 20 yards shorter. All a bit of an issue when it comes to club selection if you don't have a range finder. Quite why the club do it I cannot understand, unless there is a view that it won't attract visitors if it only measures 5,500 yards from the yellows. Quite how they get away with it is another matter entirely - when assessing the standard scratch I would have thought a county representative would have picked up on it. Nice enough track, really friendly staff, below par changing and practice facilities, especially for societies. Okay, but not one I'd rush back to.

We played this course Sunday 17th June with our Society and what a course ! The greens were in excellent condition ( no geese droppings on the 18th ) The course is hilly, you make you way up the hill for the first three holes, the next four or five holes are flat on top of the hill, you then make your back way down to the clubhouse, there were very tired golfers at the 19th ! There are so many interesting holes I found the course tricky as a 28 handicapper. The condition of the course was excellent, the best we've played this year so far, the greens were quick and challenging, fairways and tees were also in excellent condition. What a superb day, would book this course again no problem, fantastic !

14 of us arrived on a pleasant Sunny Sunday , ready for the challenge of the ups and downs of this well laid out Parkland course . We all found the Par 3's tough particularly the very tight uphill no.9 ( against the wind ) and the downhill ( majorly left to right wind) No. 13. Our slight criticism would be the lack of marker posts from the tee but that perhaps adds to the character of the course with its sloping fairways. Other than that we all went away knowing we had been for a walk !!

I enjoyed the round at Springwater and I must say you do need to be fit to get the best out of the course. Very hilly in places but it does have some very interesting holes. I can concur with the previous reviewer that the geese droppings on the 18th are a pain. The clubhouse is very friendly and it is certainly worth a visit with a 241 voucher

This course is very up and down, the front nine are in fairly good condition with a variety of challenging holes which includes plenty of water hazards.Unfortunately this is let down by the back nine which is in poor condition.dissapointed about the signature 18th which is covered in geese droppings.average club house and underaverage facilities.sorry but we wont be rushing back to this one.

this is Not a bad little course but some of pin positions was more like playing craxy golf at blackpool, i think that more thought needs to be put into postioning of pins and people would enjoy the round of golf alot more

Been a member here now for 2 1/2 years and the course gets better all the time. Not overly long but not easy by any means. If you can play well at Springwater you can play well anywhere! Good course, friendly staff/members, great atmosphere! If you fancy a round email me.

Springwater is a very good test for all standards of golfers, nice clubhouse and everyone seemed to be very friendly and welcoming. The course was in great condition and all the holes are varied.

The new 9 holes are an excellent addition, a good test of golf. Hilly though, only for the fit this one!
