First time for twenty years or so that I've played here and it's still much the same. The politest way I can think to describe it is 'no frills' golf. It doesn't offend in any way but doesn't do anything exciting either.
It's probably about the most straight forward course you're ever likely to come across and for that reason has always had a good reputation as a beginners course. That's absolutely fair comment but beginners shouldn't be put off the game by thinking this is as good as it gets.
Still, as the first 'full size' course I ever played many moons ago I still have a bit of a soft spot for it and I know I'm not the only one.
