have just played sedelscombe with my works society, the course was in pretty good condition apart from the greens having been sanded but they did still play quite well, the course is toughbut if you plot your way round it makes it very interesting, but we were quite disgusted at the portions for our after game meal, they made nouvelle cuissiene look like a sunday roast and put a dampner on what could have been an enjoyable day
Admittedly it was a while back when I played Sedlescombe. The golf school was terrific but the course so disappointing because if you ran off the fairway the ball ran into three inch deep clover and daisies which meant lots of lost balls and delays. Shame because the course could be so lovely.
We have just come back from our second stay at this course. Ten of us for two days golf with B&B&EM. Had a great time! The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, the course played well and our group of mixed abilities found it challenging and fun. Each hole throws up a different challenge. The 9th, 15th, and 16th had us either boasting or crying but with three water hazards to choose to land in the 15th proved the undoing of most of us. Off course the bar and restaurant kept us well fed and watered with great choice and quality. The rooms are very well kept and comfortable. After thirtysix holes, a full meal and one or two 'sherries' they were a perfect place to recharge for the second day. I think the best recommendation I can give is that we shall be back again next March. We would not consider going to another venue, even for free beer!! The best our society has been to. Big thanks to DAVE and his staff!
Having picked up clubs again after twenty years, Sedlescombe provides an excellent refresher and learning challenge in one package. Great staff, pros and bar staff and a welcoming attitude make this a great place to play and socialise. Two bits of advice- buy a course guide in the pro shop and be wary of the bunker on the seventh!
The course is now a full 18 holes and quite challenging. There is also an hotel, tennis courts in the process of being built and the club house has been refurbished. Well worth a visit.
Failry new to golf, I found the Pro (James Andrews) and other staff to be welcoming and helpful with a commendable respect for goflers now matter how new to the game. The facilities are excellent and the course well kept with a good enough variety of holes to offer an enjoyable round every visit.
