Scalm is overall very good value - plenty of 241 deals make this a cheap choice. And although it is cheap it does challenge the average golfer. It has some intersting holes and at times makes you really think where your next shot needs to be. Out of bounds can also wreck a card on the 5th, 9th and 11th Stand Out holes are The 2nd (Par3 over the lake) The 8th (lovely dogleg par4 in the woodland) The short par 4 13th with a huge tree down the right and now water guarding the hole. good honest golfing fun.

Played on Friday 4th July using a 2-4-1 voucher. The course is good value using a voucher, but i think the full green fee of £18.50 is on the expensive side. The course has a good mix of holes, the par 3's are very good with water in play on the 2nd & 10th. The course has a good layout with some varied holes - it isnt just straight up and down, but it is let down by the greens though, they were very slow and in need of a cut when we played but did run at least run true. Any decent golfer that hits the ball straight & a good distance should take the course apart as it is relatively easy & short, although some of the holes do require a bit of local knowledge. One safety concern - the owners could do with putting a safety fence at the left side of the 17th as the tee is located on the driving line for the short par 4, players on the 13th hole are just blasting drives at you whilst on the tee. Friendly staff in the pro-shop and the practice facilities are good & well priced, the clubhouse / bar is also good value for money.

played scalm park yesterday, got there pro was fantastic very helpful, took our 241 voucher and it only cost us £8.75 each great value, i would say in the nicest possible way this is a beginners course or a high handicappers course, some good little holes on here 1st played along side a pond, 2nd short par 3 but all carry over water, i really did like the 7th par 5 out bounds all down the left were the burn cuts into the fairway, 10th a good little par 3 with green half coverd by trees,11th tough driving hole, and the toughest holes are at the finish 16 17 18,greens were ok not great but not bad, joined up with a member later on in round and he told me bloke is now putting quite alot of money into it,i scored better than what i would do on my own course think i could prob play off few shots less here, most holes are a drive and wedge but good fun, worth a vistit just for the value, nice club house to and good food
