Revisited Santa Maria as part of a week long golf tour, and it was 2nd only to Rio Real in popularity amongst our party. Much of what I said in my previous report a couple of years ago remains the same. Well maintained tee beds, bunkers and fairways were order of the day, and the course is very well set out. The greens were a little disappointing, they were at times two paced and we felt they were in need of another cut as they were a little bobbly. Facilities are excellent and still not overly pricey. Staff are welcoming and friendly, as they are at most courses we visit in Spain in fairness. A very good holiday golf course at just over 5800 yards off yellows.

This is a course that i have played many timnes before and have always found enjoyable, it is a bit of a good value "banker" on any trip to this part of Spain. I last played here twice during the last couple of weeks in August once on a twilight fee which was only 24 euros and therefore excellent value the second time with a local society. This is an excellent track offering some fantastic views back down over the coast and a buggy is essential. We played from the back (blue) tees in the society and this gave the course a whole new dimension, especially if your game lacks distance. Of course the facilities and staff are excellent. One of our group left some brand new raybans in a buggy which were returned the next day, I am not sure howoften this would happen elsewhere! We also ate in the restaurant and the staff bent over backwards to accomodate a group of 21, for which they deserve special praise.

I played this course today. It was rather hot so we took a buggy and plenty of water with us. The yellow tees were all brought forward so the course didn't play very long. Tees, fairways and greens were all in excellent shape, greens were rather fast. Made my best score of the holidaya so obviously enjoyed the course a lot.... Very nice scenery so I took a lot of pictures. Only negative remark: the GPS system in the buggy didn't work so we went back after 3 holes. Other buggy had similar problems so in the end I left it although for some holes an accurate yardage would have been nice.... I fully recommend this course if you visit the Costa del Sol!

Excellent course, but buggy essential. Hilly and distance between holes. Played on a Friday and surprisingly empty. Perfect conditions and variety of hazards - water, ravines, slopes proved to be a good challenge. Secret is to keep it on the short stuff - all to easy to assume that the par 70 is a pushover. Stroke saver useful since many holes are dog legs and played over blind brows - position is everything. Only downside - no practise facilities on the club house site. Warm up at the range as you enter the village complex.

Playd this on tour and we all agreed this was one of the best courses we played during the week if not the best. Some very good holes on this course. Good course layout, well manicured as you'd expect, great fairways and big greens that run true and fast. Plenty of bunkers and water dotted around the place should you stray of the straight and narrow. One word of warning though - some of the walks between holes are long, and not only that some of the walks are extremely steep. If you're not the fittest, don't walk this course - we did, admittedly after a night on the town which won't have helped, but nevertheless a long walk. there's one hole in particular where you go under the flyover and seem to climb forever - there's a drinks machine strategically located under the bridge! That said, they do insist that buggies stick to the paths which is the reason we decided to walk, it really does slow you down when you're actually on a hole. Off course we couldn't fault it - very friendly, food was pretty good and not ridiculously expensive. Well worth a second visit.

Played as part of a tour [Torrequebrada, Monte Mayor,Rio Real, El Pariso & La Cala] and voted the best of the week by us all. We first played this course 3 years ago and had forgotten how good it was. Good layout, large greens that are fast but not ridiculous and fairways that are even. It's not the most challenging of courses but consequently it gives everyone a chance to score reasonably well. Clubhouse is friendly with good service. I would definately suggest buggies [cart path only] as it's hilly in places and there are some long walks between greens and tees. Will definately be back.

Best of four courses just played on Costa Del Sol. Played a twighlight for 40 euros to keep down the now ridiculous charges in the area. Beautiful course but if you've got dodgy knees don't make the mistake I made of pulling a trolley - it's very uphill on the front nine and very downhill on the back.

This was a very enjoyable golf couse, with most holes beeing good on the eye and a good test. The tee shot on first looks harder than it is, but this is what makes the course. Play it more than once and you will enjoy it each time for different reasons. The greens were very good and the condition of the rest of the course was good. the club house was very good, for coffee before you play to food and beer afterwards.

A fantastic little course set away about 30 mins from Mijas. The course was in great nick with good greens, well set out holes and fairways as good as you will play. Some challenging par 5's, with some interesting par 3's. ie 160y down hill!! Well recommended Jon

Lovely course and well worth playing. Not too difficult but some very interesting tee shots across water, especially the first when you haven't warmed up! Played it two years running and couldn't fault it. Make sure you hire a buggy; the next tee can be some distance away and up some rather steep hills.

Played here in February with a local society. The course was in excellent condition. The Course is very picturesque with plenty of water and some fabulous views back down to the coast. Not particularly testing the whole society scored very well. Definitely worth a visit if you are on the Costa.

A beautiful course. Very well manicured. Great views of the mountains and coastline. Not a difficult course, but plenty of tricky tee shots over ravines and water. you'll definately need a buggy.

Sept 2003 Superb course with fantastic views. Buggy IS ESSENTIAL as is quite hilly ! Will I return ? Definately ! Well worth a visit. Russ

This year was a first for us at this course and we will be returning. In excellant condition and a fair test of golf.

This is a very nice golf course.Every bit as good if not better than the more well known courses on the Costa del Sol. Not to be missed.
