Ryde Golf Club

Played this 10 hole course late March 2011 in glorious sunshine. Paying fees over the bar (£10 for 9 holes), it was then to the 1st tee, right in front of the bar, and as it happens, all the clubs ladies as well having just finished their day........even for a 12 handicapper like me, that was double un-nerving!. This first tee is also horrible unnervingly narrow and the out of bounds hedge beckons all the way down on the right and I managed a just satisfactory slight pull left, away from the main trouble, but, well, into the trees bordering the left of the 1st fairway....a few hacks and a one putt enabled an escape for a dodgy 6. The rest of the course continues in the same vein, narrow target areas and small and often well protected greens. This little 9 holer (10 in truth as there is an extra green for the 16th) is a smashing little tester, with every hole completely diiferent from all others.
Hardish walking in places, (7th & 8th quite stiff), friendly staff, and warm welcomes......well what more could you want!
