Excellent value for money on what is a great track. Reading up on the history of the course i only wish i'd been able to play it in its heyday, although there are still plenty of original features which make the layout a great test of golf and a pleasure to navigate. Course conditions have been ok this year considering how much rain we've had, and it looks like the greenstaff are continuing to improve the drainage and greens. I do understand that golfers expect a certain standard of course maintenance these days, but a previous comment on this thread advising to play Canford Magna over Queens misses the point entirely. Canford has no soul, and will never come close to the standard of layout at Queens, no matter how well it is presented. Yes Queens does have some way to go in terms of course conditioning, but i would always choose, and would urge others to choose- no matter what their ability, an historic well designed layout over a dull 80's carved-out-of-a-farmers-field course any day of the year.

This is the first time i have played this course and im afraid to say it will be the last!. The course layout is not to bad with some very challenging and pretty holes, the first par 3 is a great looking hole however most holes are let down badly by poorly maintained greens and dry unkept fairways with a lot of areas consisting of hard mud meaning a lot of balls had to be moved to find a patch of decent grass to play from, also the bunkers although filled with soft sand had far too many stones in, im sorry but im not damaging my club, the clubhouse also looked rundown. The staff were very friendly and it was a cheap round of golf £106 for a 4 ball with buggies but i would rather pay more for a better experience, it is such a shame as this could potentialy be a very nice course with lots of TLC. the previous day we played both courses at Canford Magna Golf Club and this was a truely wonderfull experience, both were in pristine condition and staff were excellent, i would give Queens Park a miss and try out Canford Magna, you will not be dissappointed.......

This course was a championship layout before the A338 dual carriageway was built. Many of the holes were not affected by the new road so is a challenging course and well worth a visit - at the right time of year! This course would be really good in the warmer drier weather. However, in winter, the ground in places is very heavy clay. Some fairways are tree lined and tend to get muddy and bare of grass as they don't get much sun so don't dry out. I am thinking particularly of the 1st and 18th. There are however plenty of holes that are less affected. The greens were not great as they were being maintained by staff at the time I played. However, so if you can stand a bit of mud you can get an amazing value off peak early bird round of only £12 during the week or £10 on Monday/ Wednesday.

Played this course on Sunday 20th March as part of a society. I used to live in Bournemouth and have played the course many times before but not for 15 years or so. I am sorry but the old girl has really declined. I know that we have had a poor winter but the state of the fairways was not good. However, as pick and place was allowed this did not affect us too much. More worrying is the state of the greens which were very bare and did not seem to be being maintained. Probably as bad as I have played. I cannot understand why the council are letting such a great asset go to the dogs. (literally) The state of the course needs to be put in context though. We were looking for a budget weekend and it is very difficult to get a society tee time on a Sunday. Overall I would say that I got value for money. I got a game of golf on a challenging course on a Sunday, albeit with poor greens and we did not have to pay through the nose for it. Having played on Friday and Saturday and enjoyed ourselves in the evening I do not think we would have justified paying for Parkstone and the like even if we could have got a tee time. Club house was comfortable and friendly with reasonable priced drinks and food. Cannot recommend for the real golf enthusiast but for the social golfer I think that if can allow gimmes all putts inside 3 feet I think this is worth the money as greens apart this is a beatifully designed course.

Drove 2 hours from Swindon to play this course on 17/03/11. used to live in Bournemouth but did not play golf back then but remembered it was a good course. Unfortunatley, the experience was a complete let down. Most fairways were just mud with patches of grass. The greens were shocking with virtually no grass on them. The dog walkers are a major hazard popping up out of know where and you can't get any rythmn worrying about where they will appear next. Some serious work is needed on this course before it is fit to play.

Played this course 2 nights ago. Its like taking your clubs into the local park, hitting balls and nobody batting an eyelid. Its a nice course with plenty of trees. Problem being that a member of the public and or dog could pop out at anytime?Mostly they will give you right of way. There's also a few blind shots into areas where the public may be, all seems really strange to me. I hope the green fees include insurance? I was struggling with my game and couldn't`t get any rhythm going as i was stuck behind a three ball who deemed it unnecessary to wave me through. I would go back and its great value for money.

I have regularly played QP as a visitor this summer when on business in the area. The staff in the shop are friendly and helpful and the cost of a round is excellent value. I used to play here in the 6o's with my father and from what I can remember the course has changed somewhat to accommodate the ring road / by-pass. Still, its a good test for most golfers and has some really beautiful holes (2nd, 6th, 11th) and is well worth a visit. There are a lot of dog walkers but they have as much right to be there as we have - we just need to be aware of each others' needs. They wouldn't prevent me from playing again.

queens is a great course in a great setting and has the potential to once again become the best municiple course in the country, as it once was. the course particularly over the past few years has been in outstanding condition due to an excellent head greenkeeper who has turned the condition of the course around completely. hopefully in the near future queens will gain some length due to the fact that in the 60's the course measured 6,617 yards and was a par 75. now it is 6,090 yards and a par 71.

I played this course on a society weekend in March and found it to be of a very poor standard. The greens were some of the worst I have seen or played on, the fairways were somewhat lacking in grass and the number of people wandering around the fairways with their dogs was just unbelievable. There must be better courses in Bournemouth to play than this place. Very disappointing indeed !!!!

Queens park is an excellent course and i would advise anyone who gets the chance to play there. There is the hassle of it being a public course with dog walkers and joggers not giving any considerations to the golfers. Although there has been some dramtic changes on this course its still one of the best courses i have played.

A great course layout but the condition was not great. Fairways were the main problem, they were scuffed up but the greens were smooth and true. The only other 'problem' is the public access to the park, most dog walkers look before ambling onto fairways but joggers don't. Great value for money and a beautiful layout with some testing shots and worth a visit.

I played this course with mixed expectations, knowing that it was a public course etc. What a surprise!! I can honestly say that i haven't played many better courses, public or private. Very challenging to players of all standards and very fair. Every hole offers different challenges and are very interesting. An absolute must if you are in the area, and i will definately be returning. At £16 it is excellant value for money also.
