I am a beginner at golf and I enjoyed playing here. The 17th hole in particular was interesting with the fairway being on a dog leg and then green on top of a hill. At £13 a round I don't think you can go wrong.

Went for an arranged game of golf today (Thur 22nd March) with two tees booked for 08.04 and 08.12. As we were queued up waiting for the shop to open we were stood behind three club members, who told us that the people that run the shop were always late opening. This then led to other club members, quite ignorantly, walking in front of mmy party to tee off first. My friends and I could not believe what was going on and were ready for an argument with these characters before tee off time. As it turned out, the shop was still not open by 08.10 and so we decided to go elsewhere as some of our party had to be at work on the afternoon. We left and as we were pulling out of the car park the key holder finally arrived. As a result Oakleaf lost somewhere in the region of seventy pounds for the golf, plus what we would have spent in the bar afterwards with lunch etc! I suggest they get rid of the idle sod that runs the shop and find somebody that can get out of bed in the morning. The local members, that play most days, told us that this is a very regular occurance and that over the past year, the shop has only opened on time about six times. Sad, but there you are. Don't plan to play early if you intend going.

As a municipal course, I would say that Oak Leaf is one of the best around. I played the course as a youngster some 15 years ago,(as a 9 hole), then moved to London, returning Xmas 2002. Seeing the huge improvement in the standard and condition of the course was fantastic - and with obvious planning being made for the future, the course will only get better. Also, at £10.50 per round I find it excellent value and probable the cheapest around. thank you
