Terrible.

We arrived early having sourced a £10 green fee, even that was too dear. Pro's shop carried no stock, club house had no food at all. Turns out the company running the course has gone bankrupt. This clearly shows as the fairways are like semi rough, some greens have rabbit holes and pins missing or replaced with sticks. If you hit long rough forget about it. Someone had even gone to the trouble of writing "S*1t golf course" in the bunker sand.

Real shame as I played this about 18 months before and it was challenging but in great condition.

Avoid.

Having previously given this course some positive reviews when others have moaned i thought i would try once again.

Well i think the other reivews this time are spot on and probably don't go far enough. Yes the club has so much potential but the fairways were like semi rough and the rough was like a jungle. God knows how many balls i actually lost before i kind of gave up, missed holes, and went home without playing the full 18.

On a positive side the greens were not too bad! shame you struggle to get there. There were so many daisies and dandelions it was untrue. Sorry to say but i wont be going back even for £10.

Such a shame!!!!!! I just hope someone takes the course on and shows it the attention it deserves.

As for club shop - nothing in there, totally empty

Clun house - didn't hang around to find out but on arrival the place was empty with no staff around.

I played this course Jan 2011. The fairways are indistinguishable from the rough and have totally inadequate drainage; I lost at least 6 balls which landed in the centre of the "fairway", commonly known as mud! The tees vary from winter mats to mud and have not been maintained since???? A number of the greens had vehicle tracks across them and the second was covered in hoof marks from a horse! Much like the fairways the greens were inadequately drained and had not been maintained since??? In fact, given that it was a dry day, I was astounded to find that there were no greens staff anywhere on the course. But if all of the above wasn't enough the club house was not clean and stank of cat urine, totally unacceptable! This is a shame because with the right investment, clubhouse staff and good greens staff it has the potential to be a very challenging and enjoyable course. My advice; unless there is a post on this site that demonstrates a vast improvement, keep your money in your pocket and go somewhere else.

This course has the potential to be an absolutely superb venue, but it is very badly let down by a lack of basic maintenance. The layout is excellent, plenty of water, some very nice bunkering and a good variety of holes. There are lots of gentle elevations throughout the course, and this together with quite a few mounds means a lot of the holes are played through what feel like valleys, really nice.
However, to say the course lacks tlc is an understatement. I played in December after the heavy snow, so cannot comment on the greens or fairways, but the general look of the course is scruffy. Obviously money is an issue, but it wouldn't cost much to clear the paths of weeds, fill in pot holes on the cinder paths etc. It seems the owners treat it as a wedding venue which has a golf course, rather than the other way round. With a proper course manager in place, they could easily double their membership fees, but the owners seem a bit short sighted

I played mollington on the 24th. I allso thought fairways and greens were long. But to be fair there was a notice in club house to say greens and fairways were not cut becouse of spraying of weeds. Rough and tees were ok. And I think greens will be good when cut. I will go back. Good coure good challenge and 15 pounds a fair price.

I played on 24th May and was as much annoyed as disappointed. While nobody expects a course to be at its best in late May I do think fairways and greens should show some evidence of maintenance I have neverbefore been unable to find a drive because the fairway was copletely covered with daisies.

The greens were very poor being very hard underneath but with long and uneven growth. This made scoring difficult.
The course actually has a lot of potential with several well designed holes, good use of water and a very pleasant setting. I would have contemplated a return except for the appalling condition.
As a result the £15 green fee did not feel like good value. My ratings reflect my disappointment.

This place needs selling and taken over by people who know what there doing. Simple as that.
The management is shocking who only care about money and not there members or the course.
the course is no better. It has slowly got worse and worse as they wont pay for decent staff or expect there club pro to be out there mowing!
Simple......dont play! ANd if u join dont expect to win as the committee are as corrupt as the clque of members whose handicaps never go up and dont count moving there ball from a hazard a penalty
avoid at all costs!

If there was an award for the worst club mollington would win!
As a member for 3 yrs they have done nothing but fleese there members with price increases, gold card privilages taken away or usege changed, bookings not take, socioties allowed to play sat/sun mornings during comps....!
And a for the course!!! un kept, no staff...greens terrible... 4 green keepers in 3 yrs due to terrible management!
No wonder only 200 members!

I had managed to play this course a number of time in 2008 but this was my first visit of 2009. I had very much enjoyed playing previously despite some questionable reviews. Booked on line for £10 for my round.
Unlike the previous review the general set up of the course was very good. Yes, the greens were slow due to being spiked and sanded!!!! But show me a course where greens have not been treated at this time of the year. I still felt the greens ran true.
The fairways were in excellent condition as was the cut 1st cut just off the fairway (after all the aim is to be on the fairway and not in the long stuff). The only disappointment came with the tee boxes, which were well worn in places and could do with consdierable TLC. In fairness some tee boxes were being treated but this was an exception rather than the rule.
The course is quite testing for higher handicaps with some tricky holes. The only other thing that would have improved my day was not putting another ball into the water at the 17th. All in all a good course and layout, especially as i only paid £10.

Played Mollington again today wishing for a improvement.
Sadly my wish didnt come true!!
Played course 5/6 times over last 15 months and greens are awful.
Everytime we go they say they are getting better but everytime there is no improvement,if anything there worse.
There is more sand on the greens than at Blackpool Beach.
I wont be going again
Ever.

Played the course in mid-September using their twilight rates. Was hugely impressed with the course and is great value for money.
Course condition was marvellous - green were true and at a nice pace and fairways were generous and well-maintained. Layout of the course is well thought-out; it's not a case of reaching for the big dog on every tee but instead trying to plot your way round the course.
Main criticism would be the lack of a yardage booklet - although there's a map on each tee box it's nice to be reassured with yardages to hazards and greens.
Did not use the clubhouse except to change so cannot really comment on it.

Played Mollington july 09 on a twilight card to get a feel for the course , very demanding course not easy by any means 150 yard markers as hard to find as shergar ,island green requires de reeding to make it more prominent it could be fabulous if it was tidied up at present you cant see the water so it may as well be a straight par 3 . Rained heavily so we will play it again but it would appear to flood easily which is surprising considering the ditches and ponds on course.I would imagine it would be a great day out in summer but needs some tlc from the groundstaff and members. shop very poor one of the worse ive seen and not very welcoming but staff very nice

Played the course in early April with a bargain tee time sourced through the internet. The course is a very good challenge for the decent golfer, but the amount of water will make this difficult for the occasional player. The layout is a cross between parkland and a USGA layout and it works pretty well, with some really interesting holes. The greens had been dressed but were true and the fairways were in good condition for the time of year. The course planner holds probably the least information of any I have ever purchased.
Off course it is a rather unfriendly place, with a lack of any sense of arrival. The staff seemed disinterested in visitors and were rather rude. We chose to eat lunch in an up-market local pub rather than the clubhouse.

Played this course back in May and it was a bit ropey - greens not great, ridiculous rough! Played again in September (twice) and what a change! Superb fairways and greens, manageable rough and plenty of great water hazards. The course seems to be returning to it's championship status with every passing week. Well worth a visit.

Played this course in May, it was spoiled by the greens which were in a dreadful state. Returned on 16/08/07, what a difference, the course was in great condition and the greens were in great shape. This course although looking wide and appealing is a very good challange to the club golfer, with most holes presenting a varied set of challanges. At the end of a great days golf the chef served an excellent carvery, the staff were very helpful. Locker room, although small was clean and tidy.

Played the course 19/07/07, This is the worst course l have ever played and that says a lot as l have played in parts of Africa. The whole set up is dreadful. The feed back from my playing was that the place should be shut as of now.
Having finished we entered the shower area this was filthy, Then to dinner words fail me.

Played the course for the first time as part of our society day out on the 8th of June. Weather very hot with just a gentle breeze.
The first problem was finding the course - not signposted from the main road - eventually found it after phoning the Club for directions.
The course itself is fairly new and a bit spartan looking in places particularly as there are a lot of pylons/overhead cables crossing the course, but having said that it is a superb layout with many great holes. There are several lakes, ponds and ditches to negotiate, particularly on the island green 17th, so you need to be carefull with your tee shot to avoid the trouble.
However, it's a shame that the greens didn't match the rest of the course, they were atrocious to say the least, the worst I have ever played on and really put a damper on the whole day. Everyone in the party were of the same opinion and couldn't see how it could be classed as a 'Championship' course. We had been told before playing that the greens had been surface dressed with sand but they were also bare, bumpy, uneven and very slow making putting a lottery.
The only other problem was that each hole had a course diagram on the tee, but the yardages and stroke index didn't match that on the card which made it a bit confusing. Also there didn't seem to be any bins on the tees.
It really is a great pitty that the greens are so bad as it would be a fantastic course otherwise and be able to live up to it's 'Championship' status.

Played Mollington grange on the 25/3/07, i had played it once before and thought it was worth another visit due to me not knowing all the water hazards. On my return i was disgusted in the course the greens were dreadful, the best greens of the day were on the roast dinner. Having returned to mollington grange expecting improvements i was bitterly dissapointed i will not be returing in the forseable future!
thanks

I played this course for the first time yesterday, 18th October, with a view to joining. The course was in excellent condition with the greens true and well maintained. The course might have been a bit long for my handicap and age but it was a tremendous thrill to play the 634 yard par 5 7th and the short par 3 "Island Green" 17th. I will definitely use a buggy next time I play as with my arthritis I found the walk very tiring towards the end of the round. The staff at the club were brilliant from the exceptionally helpful young lady on reception through to the lady serving us in the splendid club house. The greenkeeping staff were also very friendly and I will definitely be joining this clu at the start of the next membership year in April.

A great opening tee shot and plenty of great challenging holes penultimately ending on the island green. Lots of water throughout the course ... do you hit up to the water or try to drive over it ... the latter is more fun but likely to lose several balls. Hit the island green 2 times out of 3 on the 17th !!!
