Masham Golf Club

We played here this weekend with two friends who had just become members, and had a rather eventful day out. When arriving at the club we exited the car just in time for a ball to thump into the car next to us. Jokes of this being a "you any from around here are ya boy" welcome kept us going for a while, did not reflect at all on how friendly the wayward driver of the ball was or the majority of the members/staff were in accepting us, they were fantastic. There was however one exclusion from this, and unfortunately this was the fourball behind us. We were given the teapot on virtually every fairway, a verbal warning to quicken up play, playing right up to the green we were on, on a couple of occasions. Possibly the worst behaviour i've seen on a course, even though we were right up with the fourball in front (who incidently we let through, they were also extremely nice).
Moan over. The course was excellent, the greens were spiked and a little long, but rolled very well, demonstrating how good they'd be in summer. The Course layout has so many quirky edges scattered around the course to make this tight, challenging course, extremely enjoyable. Bunkers were in good condition, maybe a bit more sand needed. Tees needed cutting a bit (however it was the end of october)
For the £12 paid (playing with a member rates) this was an absolute bargain, and barr the fourball behind us, we had a most enjoyable experience. I look forward to being invited again!
