Mansfield Woodhouse Golf Club

I have played this course regulary since january 2011 as its just down the end of my street.Clubhouse id a portacabin type building, but there is a pub next to it which is welcoming.Since the weather has beeen bad the course is a bit boggy and the green have been full of worm castles which makes putting almost impossible but last week they mowed and flattened the greens and fairways and they were very good . I'm a beginner to this game but have played a few different courses and this ones is quite easy but the long 2nd can be a bit of a challenge the 3rd you have to hit between the trees in and this kind of shape ( ~ ) the 7th is the hardest hol3 with lake to the right and a stream (can get very boggy and large puddles in winter) you have to drive stright between 2 tall trees to pick up the fairway and the approach to the green tigh doglegs to the right from the fairway can be very challenging if the tuck the pin in the back right of the green. The only uphil hole is the 8th you have to drive up and over the crest (which is lined by trees both sides) .. Green fees are 9holes £5 18 is £7.80 . all in all its a decent par 3 and 4 course (no par 5)which I think will be better in summer when the weather is better fgor a decent player I think it would be a drive and chip course but for beginners its good . you can drive and use irons .
