3 reviews of Leyland Golf Club Ltd.

A very nice parkland course in excellent condition with very fast greens. Quite flat and suitable for small buggies and trollies.

I have played Leyland Golf Club many times (having been a member), yet my enjoyment of the course has been minimal, not that Leyland is a difficult course it isn't, its of a very avarage standard. A great many of the holes are just straight up and down holes running parallel to each other, all very similar, very boring, the lie of the land is such that the course undulates slightly rather than being a hilly trek, many would regard it as being flat.
I have in the main found the condition of the course always to be good throughout the year, the greens can be excellent although like all things in which nature plays apart this may fluctuate slightly.
The club house facilities are now excellent with a very contemporary design, the old club house having burnt down some years ago.
I wouldn’t regard it as the friendliest of clubs. Indeed having driven the green on the blind par 4 8th whilst a four ball where putting out (2 of which I believe were committee members) I was subject to an aggressive barrage of fury, despite my sincere apologies! This was totally uncalled for especially when my 2 playing partners and myself had waited a good 10minutes for them to clear the green, not to mention their appalling slow play the 4 ball having lost many holes on those in front of them.
Car parking also is a bit of an issue my car having been struck by balls over shooting the 9th on more than one occasion, parking spaces are limited admittedly.
I can’t be as critical of the course as it might deserve as my father is still a member (having been so for around 20 years). To summarise its an ok course but it’s the kind of place that makes golf seem like a snobs game. Save your green fees and go to some of the more attractive and friendlier courses local to Leyland such as; Duxbury Park, Revidge, Penwortham, Preston etc.
