Played here on 21 August 2010 as a visitor. Not know amongst my golfing pals as being one to heap undue praise on golf courses for the sake of it, but had a first class day out at Kedleston. Warm welcome in the Pro Shop, we played at 3pm on the back of a members' competition. Didn't have a sole in front of us, or behind us, all day. Two of us were round in 3 hours. Really good parkland course, well laid out, as you would expect of James Braid. All fairways tree lined and you needed to hit it straight. There had clearly been a lot of rain the week before, but no puddles on fairways. The greens were very large and very receptive, and a bit sandy under the surface, but they putted true and were of decent pace. Some lovely holes, especially in view of the magnificent Kedlestone Hall, the par 3 over the water being a good one. Also liked the 10th, with some magnificent looking fish in the green side lake, and a good finishing hole up the 18th. Made to feel very welcome in the Clubhouse by the members and to cap the day we were served by one of the best looking barmaids to grace any golf club bar I've been in. A really good day all round - well worth a visit.

played the course the other day, excellent course the greens staff have done a wonderful job, the course was very clean and well maintained, greens are just recovering from coring and being top dressed and look like they will be very impressive in a few weeks, the best in derbyshire, greenstaff are very friendly and patient.

Having played the course a few times in poor weather conditions I found it held up quite well although the 8th was closed the last few times why? I don't know as I lost a ball at the temporary green side bunker which was full of water! The course itself is interesting, short par 5 to start just to ease you in. Holes of note I think are the 6th a long par 4 the 7th very scenic par 3 all carry over water 9th a tough uphill par 4, 10th slight dogleg right water front left of green and the 18th again a tough uphill par 4. The holes 11 - 15 are a little up and douwn. The fairways were in ok condition the green are good and quite fast I'd like to play it during the summer. An altogether good course one that can be played after bad weather.

The course is a true test of golf.A few 400yds+ par 4s,(two of which are very testing)the short par 4s not easy either. The new greens are scultured and well thoughtout, but I was disapointed at the quality. The tees were very untidy and the walk between tee and green is an obvious after thought. The bar shuts at 2pm weekdays and there is no catering on Mondays

second best course in Derbyshire only to Walton. Greens are coming on a treat with exception of the 1st and 10th. Good long course and good test of golf, however i think it should be SS71.
