Myself and four others of mixed abilities played this course on the 17th June 2011 and had a fantastic round, everyone said what a fantastic course, with the condition of the course being so good and the views are superb, we would happily play there again

I play this course very often as it's my local, It's in my opinion a very well laid out course that offers lots of challengers with good fairways but plenty of bunkers to keep you thinking, It allways seems to be in perfect condition and is very good value for money. Being a course you can just walk onto and play I think it has to be up there for value for money, Highly Recomend a round or two.

I played Throston for the 4th time today and it certainly gets easier with a bit of course knowledge. With blind tee shots from the 10th & 12th and a semi blind tee shot on the 1st, knowing where you're safe and where you're not really helps!! The wind coming off the north sea makes it challenging too. The greens were all different today, some fast and some very slow with them being a bit fluffy and to be honest, for £20 and being one of the best courses in the area, i expected better! Also, the one thing that really lets this course down is a serious lack of yardage markers on the fairways. You're lucky if you find the 150yd marker buried somewhere and it makes things a little more difficult. I dont want to sound like a complete moaner but they also let some tramp on in tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt which is a big no-no in my book. With a little more thought into it and a little extra care (and a decent clubhouse with a bar), this course could be one of the top courses in the north east, unfortunately there are too many little things which i dont like about this course and I would much prefer to play on Knotty Hill or Wynyard.

As a Hartlepool-born exile, I play this course when I return to the area on my periodic visits, and it is always an enjoyable round. The fairways are generous, but the main challenge comes from the many well-placed bunkers, and from the undulating greens, which need very careful reading. It is always lush and well-grassed, and the views over the North Sea and the Tees Bay are magnificent. Recommended!

I played at Throston around late June this year 2003. I am an 18 handicap and played with a 13, 21 and 25 handicappers on a pay and play. It only cost me £8.00 as i am a junior and it was a Friday. I had an 88 (43 front 45 back) with two birdies and thoroughly enjoyed it. The course was well designed and moderately challenging (back 9 most challenging). The new club house is amazing but would have better if it was finished. I would recommend this course to any golfer. 10 out of 10.

A course built on lush farmland on top of a hill overlooking the Tees bay. The farmland provides excellent drainage and the course is very rarely closed so a good prospect when all you golfers need a round and all other courses are closed. Straying off the fairways puts your ball in some very lush, thick bladed grass, so beware. When the wind blows, it will make it an interesting round. Good value at around £14 on a weekend. Good pay and play venue. I played it in Oct 2002 and one of our members got a hole in one on the par 4 13th...amazing shot as the green is well guarded by bunkers. Mind the wind was blowing favourably that day. This course should develop into a fine test of golf

its a good course with some challenging greenside bunkers the two lakes are demanding and can make the difference between a good round an okay round or a bad round.

A relatively new course, that is in very good condition. Until the newly palnted trees mature it is not the most demanding of courses for the lower handicaps. The position of the tee shot is the key to scoring well on this course. Lush fairways and undulating greens add to the course features
