Gosport and Stokes Golf Club

Having grown up locally playing at Hayling I had always, wrongly, thought Stokes Bay would just be a bit of a second rate nine hole links.
The first hole lulled me into thinkng the course would probably be a simple challenge. Wrong again. The second requires an accurate tee shot followed by a pitch to a green well above you. The third was a good, long par 4, with OOB to the right from the tee and a tough approach shot as the fairway narrows. I was also particularly impressed with the relatively short par 4 fifth hole with more trouble left, right and centre. A good par 3 over water follows and the final hole is an attractive and tight short hole.
At £9 for nine holes I would recommend this course to anyone, with the possible exception of players that have only recently taken the game up. That said, when you have a little more experience under your belt, nine holes here could be a good introduction to links golf.
Very friendly staff, keen to here your feedback on 'their little course.' Will play again.
