This is an excellent private members course which is kept to a good standard. The club house staff are all friendly and they make you feel welcome as a visitor. I booked a 2 ball and played on 11/10/11 using a 241 voucher which was great value at £11.50 each. The clubs website is well designed and it reflects a well run business. I have played this course a few times now this year and our booking has been dealt with hassle free. The course is in a parkland setting and while not overly long there are some interesting holes which provide a good challenge. Fairways are generous but you need to be accurate as there are well placed strategic hazards in place to catch errant shots. The greens are well kept and consistenly run true throughout all of the holes. I did not use the catering facilities off the course but from what I saw they provide a good selection in modern surroundings. There is also a well kept 9 hole pitch and putt course on site which serves as a good warm up area for some or as a good introduction to golf. This club is easily reachable from junction 5 of the M5 and while some holes also run adjacent to the motorway the traffic noise is not a distraction. I will certainly be returning which is a good recommendation in itself.

20th May 2011 Dear Sirs, Our Society played here on May 19th. I’d heard mixed reports about it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s obviously had a lot of hard work done on it and is maturing nicely. Many of the holes are very tight, with lots of OB’s and quite a few ditches and ponds, etc. There are also some optical illusions, where something looks much nearer than it actually is, and vice versa. Bad points: Motorway noise on some holes. Many of the bunkers are rock hard (I took a lob-wedge and pretended I was playing off a path). Some holes seemed to bear little relation to the course-planner. (Planner says 15th is a 425 yds. par 4 - scorecard says it’s 547 yds. par 5). Rather hilly in places - approach to 17th is like going up a ski-slope! Even if you’re quite fit you’ll be knackered, and if, like me, you’ve got a back problem, you’ll definitely need a buggy. Good points: Mostly quite picturesque and in pleasant surroundings. Course obviously well looked after, and greens well on the better side of average. The Pro. Shop is well stocked and the staff very pleasant and welcoming. Good modern clubhouse with all the facilities and very efficient staff. All told, the course is quite pleasant, and although not really frightening it’s a decent test for the average golfer. Verdict? Not bad. I was quite impressed, and although I won’t be in a mad rush, I'd be quite happy to play it again some time. Yours faithfully John Stephens, Stourbridge

Played the course on a wet, soggy day in January. So wet that the course was closed the previous day, but it played very well despite the underfoot conditions. Found all staff to be very friendly and helpful, and all the off course facilities were smart and tidy. The course is still waiting for trees and general infrastructure to develop. It is very difficult to lose a ball on this course as it is so wide open (but boy, I did try hard!). However, it was still a pleasure to play, and on 2F1, it is good value. In 10 years time it will be a super little course, but there is no reason to wait until then.

Gaudet Luce is a very enjoyable course to play. I played on a very bright day, the day after playing the derby course at the belfry and this was a far better course. The locals are friendly, and the tee from the 7th is 180 yards over water and through tall trees which was a real pleasure (not so much for my playing partners!). The clubhouse was also pleasant. The only drawback is the noise from the M5 motorway on a coulpe of greens and tees. This course is well worth a visit and on a tueday or thursday 2fore1 vouchers are accepted.

A super little course well worth the visit. £20 per round on a Friday in November - the Mon-Thurs restriction has been lifted. Pro shop especially welcoming, and even had a starter on the first/ninth tee! Clearly very proud of their club, but open to anyone. Green keeping standards were very high and areas which would be damaged in the winter were clearly protected. Course is still new, but maturing nicely. Noise from the M5 is noticable, particularly with the trees not being mature or with leaves at this time of year. Not overly long, and all bar one green in sight from the tee, so excellent for visitors. Stroke saver is on web site, but can't be down loaded - pitty. Played off very good winter tees - none of your worn mats here. A really large box with some sort of compressed crumb and astro turf. There were boggy areas in places, but not surprising given amount of rain. Greens were mint. Big hitters will drive to the greens in many places in the summer. Driving range and shoe air cleaner. Nice course all over.

Visited the Club on 9 July 2005. Warm welcome at the (well-stocked) Pro Shop. Sensible attitude to golfers wanting to wear shorts (no knee-length socks!) on a hot day. Nice clubhouse/bar area and changing areas. Course is still relatively new, but improving, and in excellent condition. Fairways fine and greens consistent and receptive despite the dry weather. Bunkers also in good condition. Faint hum from motorway but nothing to be too concerned about. Course layout is fair and offers chance to get out of trouble if you stray. Any problems highlighted by others on this site seem to have been overcome and CLub is worth a visit.

Played on 1-4-04 and although the course has improved for recent changes the overall condition of the greens left a lot to be desired.

On a rough and windy, rainy day and not having played for six months I found Gaudet Luce quite a handful. Some of the holes are undergoing change with new tees and the 18th a new green, so prospects of this course improving are high. I look forward to visiting the course again when my game is better and the weather more temperate

not a bad little course this one. although relatively easy and short there are one or two nice holes. the greens, faiways and tees need to be improved. the course has very good facilities, they just need to match the standard of the course to that of the facilities.

A lovely course, which sees golf at it's best, friendly staff and members and you always feel welcome. Fairways to be i8mproved on but the rest of the course is as good as any. Highly recomended. Has great facilities such as, driving range, bar, changing rooms etc. 9/10.

I enjoy being a member of Gaudet as the course is lovely to play and the members are lovely, as they are friendly and are always there to encourage me, especially the club captain Mr A.W.Cook and his lovely wife and daughter J.Cook and S.Lawrence.

I am a member and past Captain of Gaudet Luce and would like to update the comments as the course has changed a lot recently. Gaudet is less than 10 years old and has suffered from poor fairways and greens in the past. However, thanks to the efforts of the green staff over the last few years the course is unrecognisable in its current condition. The fairways are getting fairly lush and true, the greens are as good as any I have played on in two years including the likes of Celtic Manor. Last year three new holes were introduced and the order of play changed. This has made a vast improvement to the course and you now have choices of shot on most holes. whichever type of shot you chose to take on you will have to hit a good one. For anyone who played the course over six months ago I wold recommend you return to try the new setup.

A very nice course which is well maintained. It is a friendly club which welcomes anyone to play. Some dissapointing holes but in general a nice course.Definately one to play. 8/10

This is a pleasant course with a very friendly welcome. The front 9 is relatively straightforward but there are some demanding holes on the back 9. The 17th and 18th could be better but I gather they will shortly be replaced with new holes. Will definitely improve with time.

The noise from traffic on the nearby M5 motorway will disturb those who like a quiet, relaxing round. It's very noticeable over the first few holes. Gaudet Luce is relatively exposed and lacks character but that's to be expected from a course created out of farmland. Tha back nine are not a great challenge and the final par 3 18th is a disappointing finish. But it's a well-maintained course and the greens can be tricky to read.
