I played the course today and game away thoroughly impressed. The staff in the shop were helpful and the course magnificent. Spectacular scenery and some really challenging holes. Fortunately the wind was not too bad or I could imagine this would be a real monster. You have to hit the ball straight! Overall a fantastic course and I will definitely come back and play again.
I played the course in Sept 2006, found it to have a mixture of very challenging holes in the dunes, some slightly quirky holes (also in the dunes)and a few straightforward holes on the flats. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, with the scenery quite spectacular. My caddie was excellent, he knew the course very well, and provided a lot of information about the area as well. If you are in the area it is a 'must play'.
i can definitely say that this is the most dramatic course that i have ever played, playing through the dunes it was a great experience. don't play here if you don't hit the ball straightish or if you are scared of heights.climbing the dunes looking for a ball is not a nice experience.well worth a trip to Ireland to play this course
Great course. Can be very tough through the dunes if you can't keep it straight....and I'd definitely recommend playing two rounds to help get an idea of some of the blind shots. That said, simply a wonderful experience. Some of the holes are fantastic, the views over the two beaches are lovely and everything was in very good condition. About the best clubhouse lunch I've had as well. Thoroughly recommend it.
My wife & I played Ennniscrone in May 2003 and loved it. The staff were most courteous and we had a very pleasant lunch before setting out on the course. The first hole looked innocent enough at the tee, but when you approached your ball for the second shot, you realised that the well bunkered green was reached with an uphill shot between two sand dunes! The holes in the sand dunes varied from great to awesome and the more parkland type holes were challenging also. Altogether a wonderful course.
Some relatively easy opening holes. Two par fives almost parkland in appearance, (but that is all changing). Very challenging course but most enjoyable with truly hospitable club and staff.
A must for west of Ireland golfers.
Links golf with a vengeance! Start with two long par 5's, probably into wind, work your way along the sea until you reach the dunes through which four or five holes have been literally carved out, regain your strength with a few flat straight holes, then finish with 3 tough ones up in the dunes again! Great fun.
