A very pleasant course in excellent condition with a nice quick pace of play; it is not particularly long or difficult and you will be disappointed not to score better than your home club handicap. The bar staff were welcoming and we enjoyed the spectacular views of London over lunch. The negatives are that the 1st tee was closed until 8am (truly bizarre on a pleasant summer morning) and we found the members to be a bit grumpy about visiting players. 2 groups of older members barged in front of us on the 1st tee (at the aforementioned 8am slot, we had been there since 7.30am) and the secure men's locker room door was not held open by members when we clearly wanted to get in and change our shoes.
A lovely well-kept private course just 5 miles from the centre of London. It isn't very long (just over 6,000 from the white tees) but it has a great variety of holes and probably the best view of London from south of the river.
Visitors can only play during the week or at the weekend as the guest of a member. The course is generally very quiet - it's not uncommon for a 2 ball to get round in under 3 hours!
I played last week (August 2008) and the greens were in superb condition. The par 3 14th is a particularly interesting 3 tier affair!
The clubhouse isn't the prettiest in the world but it has all of the facilities you would expect including a spacious locker room with showers. There isn't a driving range but there are a couple of nets and a large practice putting green.
For a club so close to central London and in such fantastic condition I think £40 is very reasonable. I will definitely be going back.
Played here midweek October 06 (£20 using a county card).
A pleasant course but probably not one that i'd tell someone to make a point of playing. The clubhouse sits at the top of the course where there are far reaching views across London (there's a great view from the 18th green).
It's a Colt design so it's well layed out & holes 8 - 14 are quite classy (the short feature hole 9th would grace any course).A few tees were a bit uneven & some of the tightly cut fairways were a little bit patchy but overall the condition was decent.
Although there not much to be critical of & it's by no means a bad course , it didn't leave me wanting to play it again & the £20 i paid was right on the limit that i'd pay for it.
