Donegal Golf Course

4 reviews of Donegal Golf Club

As part of a golf tour of the North West of Ireland I recently played at Donegal. I wasn't expecting too much as I had never really heard of it but I was pleasantly surprised to find a real gem of a links course set in a truly stunning location.

Stand out holes include the par 3 5th - aptly named the "Valley of Tears" - and the par 5 8th which is one of the most exciting and challenging long holes I have ever played.

All the characteristics of traditional links golf are evident here and the course will surely thrill lovers of seaside golf from start to finish. The course record of 69 highlights how tricky it can be from the back tees but embrace the challenge and you will leave with fond, fond memories of Donegal Golf Club.

The clubhouse is a really friendly place as well and I for one will be back to play here on future Irish golf breaks. A top class hidden gem!

stunning course set in a stunning location.the greens are impeccable.course is well laid out and in great order.2nd,5th ,8th ,16th holes would be signature holes.rough is quite punitive in places.played with 3 members martin, liam and sean.great guides and a good advert for the club with some interesting anecdotes about certain pros experiences around the course and the courses history.

This course is in a stunning setting. Played it on a dead calm day in August but the rough was still punishing if you strayed too far off line. Well worth a visit if you are in the North of ireland and deservedly in top 100 courses.

Known by the locals as "Murvagh" - this is beauty and brilliance combined. I'd say more parkland by the sea thank classic links. That said, it' got all the breath-taking quality of links style golf. Surrounded by the Atlantic the course twists and turns through dunes and down the Atlantic estuary of Donegal bay.
Oustanding facilities with a friendly atmosphere - make this very memorable with the 18th epitomising the course! Great!
