I used to be a member of Datchet Golf Club for 10 years, sadly I moved away from the area and had to give it up. The course is always in great condition and although it is a nine hole course, it is deceptively long. From memory, the 3rd, 5th, and 8th are all par 4s of 400 yards plus. There are alternate tees for most of the holes to make holes 10-18 have a little extra variety. The three par 3s are challenging, the 2nd/11th, as outlined below, is long and tight to a very small green.
For the area, nine holes won't cost you an arm and a leg and you could do a lot worse than spend an hour and a half with great views of windsor castle and a good course to play on.
Played it for the first time the other evening and was pleasantly surprised. The course is probably a month or two away from being at it's peak but it wasn't in bad condition, although the one bunker I went into didn't have a lot of dirt in it (I can't really call it sand).
The toughest hole is probably the first, which although it's only around 300 yards, it does narrow considerably the closer you get to the green. I guess you could just play it with a couple of irons, but then where's the fun in that?
I didn't really get to use the facilities, but it all looked nice enough.
Also, a big thank you to the guy behind the bar, who came outside to point out where we'd find a few of the alternative tees. It kind of made you feel a touch more welcome as a visitor.
I certainly intend going back again.
Played this 9 holer on a Friday afternoon using a 2FORE1 voucher costing £7.50 each for 9 holes.(or £12.50 for 18 ).No need to book & got straight off when we arrived & had no one in front of us all the way round. For a Friday afternoon it wasn't busy at all.A pleasant ,easy walking tree lined course with tees & greens in good condition .Goes straight out & comes back .For the above prices this is excellent value for a private club if you want a quick 9 holes.

Some people think that 9 hole courses are short and easy but this is not the case with Datchet.
Several of the par 4's are between 440-455 yrds long and it has a Par 3 most pros would struggle on 245yrds with a tight green.
One thing is for sure, you'll use every club in the bag.
The course is normally in good condition and you always feel welcome.
I'd strongly recommend that you play it if you get the chance.
Datchet Golf Club burnt down on the 12th of December 1997.It has been in existence for over a 100 years and I have been a member and still am for over 40 years. My husband was a member from 1948 until 1994.His \r\nname was Reg Singleton. He won the club championship about 15 times.
