5 reviews of Dartmouth Golf Club

Played this little course end of last summer and what a beauty it is!! lovely greens, neat tidy fairways, very picturesque but not easy with all those trees around, and smallish greens but a really lovely course- never packed out easy going atmosphere and friendly members and staff - cheap too just £9 for 9 holes £15 for the 18 what a bargain. If only I lived nearer I would certainly be a member here - its so quiet no waiting to play - straight on -no one up your back, a great day out - only one criticism, the clubhouse was closed when we finished our round and we were gasping for a pint !! All in a cracker of a course 9/10

Although the other reviews are a little dated, nothing much has changed on the course, except the first is now a staggering 675 yards from the new tee, but it is still OOB left all the way from the tee to the green. They have had a board put up to say that is now the longest opening hole in Europe. The greens are small and the fairways are tight but what a cracking test of your golfing skills. I would imagine in a couple of months when the greens have had a couple of cuts this will be a pleasure to play and we will be going back. As said in an earlier review the clubhouse was not open to have a drink after the game, but they have a small cafe type area where you can get a soft drink and a bite to eat, where we spoke to the guy in there and he told us that they had an arson attack on the locker room a couple of years ago which had totally destroyed the place, but they appear to have come back fighting and made a cracking effort with the place.

Great little course this. It's off the beaten track a little, down a narrow road behind houses. The only road you can see the course from is the M6! Your round starts off with two toughies. The opening 600+ yards par 5, with a tough drive and out of bounds all the way down the left needs no further description. You simply have to survive it! The second is 450 yards par 4 and is tougher than it looks. Keep your drive down the right hand side or you could be in trouble. Tricky uphill approach to a green hidden in a bowl. Then it gets difficult!!! The holes from here on in are quite tight with fairly small and undulating greens. Irons may be the order of the day off the tees on holes 3,6, and 8, with a tough par 3 4th, out of bounds left on the 7th and 'heart attack hill' to contend with on the 9th and you've got yourself a tricky little golf course. Then you have to do it all again from different tees (blues) which although usually not far from the yellows, you would be surprised how different the holes play second time around. Only gripes are that the bar is closed more often than not and the the greens have been a little bobbly although this has got better lately. Play this little gem, you won't regret it!!

Great little coarse 616 yard 1st par 5 is a test and from then on you just dont know what to expect every hole has something different to offer. Layed out on a hilly site but it is so well planned out this makes it more interesting to play. winter tees were in opperation but were very well maintained. Some of the Greens were spongy and had just been spiked so putting was difficult but thats the time of year, fairways were perfect good sand in bunkers .I will definatly return in a few weeks time. Staff at the shop great! played a 2 ball x 18 for £20 not a bad deal all in all a pleasure, people take pride in this place and it shows.

Very nice course to play shame it is only 9 holes or it would be a lot better. The Greens & fairways are always well looked after. Not a course you can miss the fairways on without being in trouble as most fairways are tight and lined with trees. Definetley worth playing if not only for the opening 615 yard par 5!!! Monster!!!
