This course is fantastic for beginners and high handicappers. I am very new to golf and have to say the atmosphere is always very friendly, the prices are very good, and the course condition is excellent seemingly in all but the worst weather, the course is open. The greens never hold water and rarely is there any fairway water even in the worst of rainy weeks as it drains very well. I appreciate that the course would not be very challenging for mid low handicap folders, but that is one of its unique points and has helped me massively not just to improve my game but to really enjoy it. Very rarely do I get too dishartened even on the worst of rounds as the rough is usually light and there are no out of bounds areas except for the course boundary itself. Some how I still get through 5 balls a round in the water hazards though! The clubhouse could offer more, perhaps a bar and snacks, but that is the only negative I can give. There is a very nice pub only a hundred yards or so away if you turn left out the gates, so that should cater for anyone's food and drink needs post round. An excellent course, which I intend to keep playing regularly on.

I played on Monday 19th November 2012 even after the very bad weather over the past 3 months the condition of the course fairways, greens were excellent, the green keepers have done a fantastic job.

Played the course last year (August 2011) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fairways were in very good condition and the greens were great. Some nice testing holes especially the 18th island green. Short course in terms of yardage but worth a visit. 4 ball moved round nicely with no hold ups. Friendly and polite.

The course is basic and short. 4-5 holes stand out, especially the sawgrass style, island green par 3. Although the course is short it is layed out well and the greens and very even paced and clearly are well tended. I'm usually a 16 but went round in 6 over and left a few out there. Ideal for beginners but certain holes are very challenging. Lots of fun.

Cranham isn't the toughest of challenges but it's useful for high handicapers and for better players to improve their short game on. The pace of play is always good despite it getting quite busy at times on the weekend, and green fees are reasonable, particularly the twilight offers. The greens are quicker than you might think, although unfortunately on the day I played (Sun July 25th) I found that big cuts have been made in a number of the fairways for drainage purposes, which with the hot weather have now turned into huge big cracks in places. I'm sure this is with the aim of improving the course though, so I don't want to be too negative. There are a couple of stand out holes here - notably the 14th which wraps itself around a lake, and the island green 18th. Because the course is so short (less than 5000 off the yellows) it's much easier to score well than on other more testing tracks, but it's still very much worth a round.

Played Cranham Golf Course today, was very impressed, the fairways were nice and the greens very nice, this course is really open so good for us high handicap players. went round 25 over at first try. will play here again. only bad point is it could do with a bar.

I have played Cranham Golf Course regularly over the last year or so. This is one of the best maintained pay & play golf courses you will find around for the money. The staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. The course is played tee to green all year round (no mats or temporary greens). The fairways and greens are in excellent condition. This course is a bit on the short side at only just over 5000 yards and it is faily open so you struggle to lose a ball other than in the water. Its good for higher handicappers trying to improve generally but also useful for lower handicappers who would struggle to have more than a 9 iron into greens on most par 4's (good for your short game) The best holes are the 7th (par 5), 15th (par 4), 18th (par 3 - signature hole - over water / island green). I would recommend this course to anyone and couldn't praise the staff and course enough.

I played Cranham on the 24.04.09 on a recommendation of a friend and the reports on this site . If only the course was more of a challenge I would play it week in week out . I am an 18 handicapper and a short hitter and I shot a 78 . I chipped and putted well but I do not believe I played to 11 handicap as my score would say . The whole set up at Cranham I like . The guy on the off course hut in a shirt and tie , the bunkers all with rakes and full of sand , tee markers , ball washers with towel on every hole , lovely fairways and super greens . Another man in a buggy with refreshments and picking up every little bit of litter - green staff a plenty working on the course but not getting in the way of the players . I will certainly be playing Cranham many times in the winter when the ball does not travel so far but at present I feel if I played there every week it would give me a false estimation of my ability .

This is a short, par 67 course. Quite flat and very open. You will have difficulty loosing any balls in the rough here! Maybe in the ponds, but not the rough. The tees, fairways, bunkers and greens were in superb condition when I played here. The semi-rough is kept very short and the few trees that they have are only a few years old. This does help to keep the speed of play up as there is no searching for your ball. The staff were friendly and helpful. On the downside - No practice facilities and no bar. They have a counter where you can buy golf balls, gloves, tees, etc. Also you can buy your tea/coffee here. I played with somebody who had played there before and it did help finding your way around the course, it could do with a few more 'To the next tee' signs! I have no complaints about the course and would go back there again. Russ

It's a nice course, anfd the greens are well kept, a great 18th hole on an island, my only gripe is that they offer weekend winter golf at £20 and included is a breakfast and unlimited golf after 11am. When we booked it we were asked which tee off time we would like and chose 9:30, therefore forefitting our breakfast, this wasnt made very clear.

First time over here and found the course excellent as I have a high handicap. The only thing that I could fault were the greens which I found a little rutted which didnt allow the ball to run true, I am used to the greens at Crowlands Heath which are the best that I have played. But this course is superb in every other way though...(but as one of the earlier comments points out. OH! for a pint on the 19th) But this will definately become one of my regular courses.

Have played at this course often before but returned on Sunday 25th February 2007 as we all really enjoy playing over there. Even though the price has risen from £18 to £19 to £20 per round, it is well worth it as you can see where that extra money is being spent. New pathways, markers and shrubs make it a very enjoyable round. Also now they have added a kitchen so you are able to get hold of one of those treasured bacon sandwiches and a coffee before your round

Played this course on 28th January. After three or four months of above average rainfall my members course (five or six miles away) is really quite soggy and muddy. This by comparison was in great condition for the time of year. Fairways were reasonably firm and greens were quite fast, if a little bumpy in places. Overall though it was in top order for a winter round. The course is, as described quite short but for all of that it made for a really enjoyable round of golf. Whilst the par-4s and 5s are short the placing of water hazards and bunkers meant that you couldn't just thrash at the green. For a lot of the time you had to think your way around. The aesthetics of the course are also excellent. For instance, there are no broken/old/missing water hazard markers here, tee-boxes aren't broken and the ball washers (of which there are plenty) work and were filled with water. In addition, the paths and tee markers were new, clean and up-to-date. If I had to make a criticism, it would be the haphazard way some of the holes follow one another and the consequent lack of direction pointers to the next tee. However this is a small thing for them to rectify and I would visit this place again definitely. £20 for a round at weekends was also fair value in this part of the world.

nice course which plays all year round. no temp tees or greens in the winter either. easy to play if your a low handicap. could quite easily go round with irons and still get a low score.

I agree with richard its a blinking great littel cource i played a week ago. the greens were very fine fairways were very green and well cut, the tee boxes are fine and dandy. The fee for playing is lets fase it cheap. The club house could do with some food , And it would be nise to have a pint on the 19th. But we go to play golf. thats what it says on the tin. The course has some fun holes over or by the side of water. Its got my vote and i'll be back to play again.

PLayed the course back in 2004. PLeasant enough to play but has no character. Felt like a walk round a small field with a few greens plonked here and there. Having said that I had a great round there, thrashing my friends. Even my mate Ian Pies shot below a hundred, very rare. Probably not one I'd go back to as didn't find it that good for the money I played. Although the 18th over the pond was fun.

First time I played the course today. Yes it is a bit short but it is lovely course. The back nine is better than the front with some lovely holes where the water comes in to play. The course was in great condition. The tees and green were excellent and the fairways were always superb to play from. A weekday round for £16 is great too. All in all a lovely golf course and, as the numerous trees mature, it will become even better. Some low handicap players would find it too short but I thoroughly enjoyed my round and would happily recommend the course to anyone

I live 5 minutes from this and a few other courses and, for a begginer like myself is easy enough without being too easy. it has remained in good condition throughout the year and the ground staff can be seen working continually.

I am member of the Cranham Golf Course,it cost £25 ,this gives me a reduced rate when playing. Also after handing in 3 score cards gives you an official Handicap Certificate, Its been the best £25 that I have ever spent , for a new player the course is perfect not to long ,greens are very good condition all year round. there is 3 lakes to test you , And it is claimed they have never had to use winter tees . And after playing for only 18 months I have a 24 handicap, and on Sunday 9th October 2005 , a day I will never forget, I got a HOLE-IN-ONE , it was on the 11th. a par 3 ,129 yards , I love this course . YOU-KNOW-THAT .

Great course for the beginner to mid handicapper due to its short length. However the water on many holes provides a tough and entertaining round, perfect for perfecting your approach play. The bunkers and greens are excellent in condition! Well worth a visit no matter what your standard- Practise makes perfect. One improvement could be an anual membership fee, so you can play as many times as you like - making it perfect for budding young players such as myself!

Although a short course at around 5,000 yards (Par 67), the course was nicely laid out with tricky par 3's and reachable Par 4's and 5's. The fairways were excellent and the greens highly receptive, and overall required a bit of thought to get the correct yardages. This is a good course for both mid handicappers looking to improve and a must for juniors getting into the game. No bar, but a good pub down the road. £19 at weekends , well worth it !!!
