10 reviews of Cosby Golf Club

I hadn't played at Cosby for a couple of years but was invited by a corporate member recently and was very plesantly surprised. The club had a new Pro who seems to have transformed the place I remember with a superb new shop and great staff. The best welcome I have had at any golf shop. The course was in decent condition for the time of year but unfortunately no buggies were allowed. After the game we ventured into the slightly tired looking and dated clubhouse for a very nice lunch of pie of the day which I would recommend!

I have just played Cosby in a Pro Am event had read the reviews as I always do before I play and having read such good reviews I was not disappointed the course was amazing the Pro who was on my team said that they were the best greens he had putted on for many years including some of the best courses in Euroupe. The PGA said they were running at 13. The course although short was intresting and beautifully maintained however it could have done with a few more holes of intrest. Also had very undulating fairways.

I played Cosby yesterday in the Seniors Spring Classic, my friend is a member here and has been asking me to join him for a round for sometime now. I wish I had come sooner the course was in superb condition the greens true and fast and the fairways although not on them as much as I would have liked were as good as some of my own clubs greens. I would recommend this course to anyone!

Played the course at the end of a wet April in a Leicestershire Schools Championship, and was surprised at the superb conditions. The greens ran true and fast (even after rain), the fairways were in top shape and the course testing but fair, requiring some real planning. Thankfully, my tee-to-green work was good or it would have produced a high score. Overall a top quality course and a pleasure to play.

Played Cosby for the first time in 5 yrs as I was in the area had been told by a friend how much the place had changed, what a difference it was late October when we played and there had just been an event over the weekend and I have to say for the time of year the course was superb, the greens were better then ours are in the summer and the course has changed beyond recognition, although it did not help my score as i found just about every bit of sand going. Well worth a visit and a joy to play

Played the course yesterday in there Yearly Open, the weather was horrible, however this did not dampen our day, I have played the course on several occasions and it is always in beautiful condition and today was no exception, the greens which were a little slower then usual putted superbly and the fairways were like carpets the course has been altered alot in the last few years that I have been coming however it still lacks a few features or two to make it a bit more intresting.

Played the Course in our leicestershire alliance and it was far and away the best course on the circuit the approaches were like some of the greens we play on, the greens had just been tinned and sanded which was a shame however this did not stop of us from having an excellent day on an excellent golf course.

Played on a very wet and windy day in November 2006. Very warm welcome from the Pro, and a thoroughly enjoyable course. Not the longest, but it is tight and requires accurate and intelligent play. The 17th and 18th are both very interesting, the 17th a downhill par 4 with a raised narrow green fronted by a small valley with a stream. A tough hole in the wind! The 18th is a blind shot onto a narrow fairway with probably the 2 deepest bunkers Ive seen in Leicestershire 50 yards in front of a tight green. This is a course I shall look forward to playing again, and though it may not be as challenging, or as well designed as others it has a charm of its own, and I recommend it highly as an enjoyable rather than challenging course. Great pint of Bass in the Cluhouse as well!

Played the course for the first time in 6 years and could not believe the changes, from being an also ran in my eyes to something very special and as in good a condition as any I have played. It was as good as any course I have played on the Private Members circuit with some lovely holes now created, there is a short par 3 with links style bunkers surrounding it which played a treat, although my partner will tell u different after taking a 6. Another the 4th which looked new and very classy with bunkers surrounding looks a picture. The Greens are the best surfaces i have putted on and would love to take them to my club.

Played this course last week on the 2 for 1 voucher scheme. Very well maintained and friendly club with some good holes. At £27 per round, the green fee is a bit steep but on the 2 for 1 was pretty good value for money.
