The course is ok but you will be disappointed if you think it is a challenge even for the average golfer. First of all holes are reachable off the tee so basically this is a par 3 course. At £10 i felt a bit ripped off for 9 holes. The driving range is good value though and the clubhouse is well presented. Great course if you want to tune up your iron play but nothing more i'm afraid.
I am brand new to the game, and really didn't think I was going to enjoy it, but it really is hard not to with such a beautiful course. The staff there are all great, and the free lesson I went to helped massively!!
Would definitely recommend to others - especially first timers!
I have just organised a competition for our Sunday Football team. We had a perfect day on Saturday gone with a warm up on the new electronic driving range, a round of golf then a meal with drinks afterwards. I would like to say that the day went perfect and I put that down to the staff at Cocken Lodge. Thanks Gowan and the girls.
Nothing is a problem to them and I cannot thank them enough.
I find that Cocken Lodge can be a tough little course as the fairways are narrow. The course always looks it's best. We have just had a group of 13 playing there and we were well looked after, providing us with a warm up on the range, a round of golf and a bit dinner.
I'd recommend this course to everyone.

Hi,I have been playing golf at this cracking little course with my good pal Alan nearly every weekend for the last two years whatever the weather. That is credit to the staff who look after this course as it is always in pretty good shape,it is perfect for practicing your short game as you are faced with every kind of obstacle you find on the more big and expensive courses. The course offers you a good challenge but at the same time being fair and it might be only a par 29,but as far as I know only one player has made par on this course and that was a professional,so my lowest of 31 and I don't have a handicap gives me hope of one day of achieving par.
The staff here always make you feel welcome and will do anything to help you to make your day a pleasant one.
Keep up the good work Cocken Lodge.
Most people glancing at this seeing a 'Par 3' course would expect a pitch'n'putt style low quality golf course, but this is far from it. My cousin and I are not complete beginners at golf but wanted somewhere to practice our short game and I must say this course is perfect. Consisting of 2 short par 4's and the rest of par 3's, this isn't quite as easy as it sounds due to narrow fairways, water hazzards, bunkers and out-of-bounds areas galore, but the greens are in immaculate condition (better than some full 18 hole courses i've played at a higher cost) and the staff are friendly. A driving range, practice putting and chipping area and a clubhouse facility complete this course to the delight of most golfers who play here. I will be going back to continue my short game work.
Having just stared playing golf we (Wayne Tonothy, Steve Barkus) were looking for a course which would help us learn and develop our game. Cocken Lodge was recomended by a fellow golfer (did not get his name). This turned out to be an excellent choice. Lucy (manageress) greeted us with a smile and a chirpy hello and made us feel at ease. The course is an excellent place to start for beginners. The holes are well kept and spotless. Although it is becoming very popular, the fact that there is a fifteen minute time gap between teeing off, made you feel unrushed and comfortable even though it was taking me sometimes 6-7 shots on a par 3.A wonderfull place with friendly faces and a relaxed atmosphere and I totally recomend this course. We have already nicknamed Lucy "MA" !!!
