Fabulous golf course. The previous reviewers ignorance stands out as 'old fashioned' was obviously meant as an insult. Fair enough though, Clevedon probably wouldn't appeal to the plastic fountain brigade and that's surely a blessing for those of us that know a little bit more about the game. This is a fine downland course with a very significant breeze coming from the sea on occasions, with excellent use of the topography to produce natural, interest and variable tests and, overall, a treat to play for those with the capacity to get it.

I played Clevedon on a late Sunday afternoon after all nite flight from Los Angeles - was raining all the way from Heathrow. Pro was accomodating (had been contacted in advance) and as a single was very fortunate to find a group to play with so late in the day and bad weather. What a beautiful course, with great views and lovely environs. The first few play along the cliff with views to Wales. The next bunch wind thru a forest - really like playing in a botanical garden. The ninth comes back to the clubhouse which is nice for a quick beer at the turn. The back nine is a bit hilly and tighter than the front. Also a little difficult to know where the next tee is on the first few of the back nine - probably would've got lost if it weren't for the very friendly members who I played with. After climbing up to the 16th tee, a great view of the town and the ocean before driving down to the fairway - possibly a signature hole but a little on the short side for that, also considering some of the many challenging and beautiful holes that I had already played. The last three are all shortish par 4s that have unique designs, not tricky just interesting. I finished 3-3-3 for 78 - that's why such a fond remembrance of the closing holes. Overall - a great course to play.

My brother and I had not played the course for a number of years and what we found was a great improvement on what was already a good course. Every hole had new greens of the highest standard, great putting surface with sometimes subtle and sometimes not so subtle borrows. The length has increase dramatically. With 400yds + up hill par fours still as tough as ever, it has made the course a challenge for any golfer. As for the club, it is still one of the most friendly I know starting with the pro shop and ending with the members. Clevedon golf club is well worth a visit and at £25 it is value for money too!

Played the course a few years ago while under development, but returned to see how excellent theings have been completed, a real hidden Jewel in Somerset

The course is now open in it's fully remodelled format. The course is a splendid test of golf and is set in stunning scenery. Played in a strong south westerly the course can be very demanding, especially the signature Castle hole with a hill top drive straight into the wind.

Nice course. A little slow for the average golfer, but very easy.
