Played here July ,2015 . I found this course a bit uninspiring .The first 8 holes are fairly mundane & primarily run up & down .Holes 9 to 15 were ,for me , the best stretch of holes being linksy ,playing closer to the sea wall & were more interesting .The par 3 17th is probably the signature hole but i thought it felt a bit gimmicky & on 18 you have to drive across some bushes & to a mainly obscured fairway . Also ,i didn't feel that some of the cross hazard ditches were in the best positions .The ditch just short of the 13th green meant it was very difficult to hold the small green even with not much left in ,the ditch on the par 5 6th fairway is too long a carry for the 2nd shot & on the par 5 1st there are 4 hazards to negotiate when really you just want groups to get off & running & after a good drive here you end up having to thread an iron down the right but then still have a lot of work to do to hit a green with trouble front & back. The greens were superb & a pleasure to putt on but the tees were a bit scruffy on the visit & uneven .The course is easy walking. Decent clubhouse & food & it seems to be a thriving club. All staff & members we encountered were welcoming & very helpful to visitors . Kevin B.

We visited Clacton on their Lunch & Golf offer on thursday, nice people in the pro shop, good changing room, we had coffee then to the course, big par 5 to open, glad that the pro pointed out the double green, interesting course front eight holes in trees then opens into a links course, several very good holes with some water, greens were the best we have played for some time, not quick but very true. Good hot showers then into a very nice lounge-dining area for Ham Egg & Chips, this was one good day, we will be back.

Clacton is a pleasant flat parkland course next to the sea which is kept in good condition. On our visit play was horrendously slow which spoilt our enjoyment somewhat. The par 3 17th was probably the best hole on the course.

i have been a member at clacton for just 6 months and i find it a very nicew course with some challenging holes which are made increasingly hard by the winds from the sea. its an always improving course with very nice greens a recommendation for any quality of golfer.

Nice little track on the Essex coast..... Wind is a factor, bit it isnt a links course as such. Probably the best greens I have ever putted on. Very neat and tidy elsewhere. Friendly natives. Course seems a bit "confused" after the tenth. Very cute little par 3 at 17. Well worth a visit.
