4 reviews of Chipstead Golf Club Ltd
I played Chipstead several times in previous decades and always found it a good short course with no terrors.
On a recent return, I was surprised by the lack of signage between tees. It is quite easy to go astray.
Course was in good condition for Winter, though it seemed a strange time to spike the greens.
Having just played this course for the first time I can't help feeling a little disappointed with the experience. This is a relatively short course with holes which seemed to be uncomfortably close to eachother at times.
The severely sloping left to right fairway on the 4th hole gives little chance of rewarding a good drive, and the 5th which is marked as 165yrds off the yellows certainly did not appear to be anywhere near that far.
On the back nine you encounter a run of four par 3's in five holes !!
Overall, this was not one of my more memorable golfing experiences.
I was a junior member here for many years. The course has a few weak holes, but also several memorable ones such as the 5th and 10th. It has a great deal of character and some good views over Banstead woods. It is a short course but the narrow fairways will reward steady, accurate play. This means it can provide a even test to male and female players of different ages and abilities.
A short but challenging course, well set out . The 4th a par 4 is a little naff as the fairway rolls steeply left to right and you'll almost certainly end up along the fence at the bottom of the hill. There are 3 back to back par 3's which I think its the 12th,13th and 14ths holes. Overal a good course although the greens are extremly slow. Definately a cardio vascular workout.Out of 10 a 7.
