10 reviews of Brancepeth Castle Golf Club

Played this for the first time in an open competition, it is a visually stunning and intimidating course, but if you can block out the ravine(not easy), then it is not so difficult, played of the championship tees and I must admit it is one of the best I have ever played, staff in shop, clubhouse and the starter and marshals were fantastic. Food and drink a good price and very good quality. Will play again for certain.

Played late May. One of the best inland courses l have ever played. We payed £100 for a tee. ie £25 each and played 27 holes a bargain a must play course in my opinion.

I played Brancepeth Castle last year on a hot summer's day. The walk around was wonderful and the course looked amazing. Greens were superb and the undulating fairways really were sumptuous. Some fantastic-looking tee shots across deep ravines and bramble-filled valleys. The only drawback was that as someone with a high handicap, it turned out to be a very expensive day. The high green fees are in keeping with the high quality of the course and coupled with the fact that I lost about 30 balls (a record even for me)I went home feeling that I would need to get a lot better or have a win on the lottery before I attempted it again. Still a lovely day though.

I was On the way to Scotland in May Last year when I found this Jem, it is a truly beautiful piece of architecture and is so in sync with its natural surroundings. In Regards to the actual playing experience it is truly what Golf is meant to be, Just you your clubs and nature ( i'm quiet jealous of the balls that I lost there)

Played on 6th September 2004. This is one of the best courses in uk. Superb condition, fantastic layout, great clubhouse hospitality. Don't miss it go out of your way it is worth it.

We played Brancepeth on a society visit last year and it was a truelly fabulous course. The people were friendly and the condition of the course is superb. We are planning a visit again to Durham and Brancpeth is first on our list to play.

I played this course on a sunny afternoon. It was glorious in every sense. The first thing you notice are the rippling fairways (be prepared for plenty of weird and wonderful lies). The 2nd, 9th and 10th were three of the hardest par threes I have ever played. There is a particularly deep ravine which needs to be crossed a number of times. It is not only the tee shots which require courage, the wobbly bridge across the ravine could give vertigo sufferers nightmares for weeks. If you are in the north-east, it would be a crime not to play Brancepeth.

a truly championship course. it is only 6,300 yards long but what a test of golf. the undualtions are not severe but the panorama and the course set up is brilliant. i had a very good day at brancepeth castle golf club and the hospitality from house staff and excellent catering facilities - i would recommend it to any aspiring golfer.
