Not as good as it's cracked up to be. It's design is on the side of a hill so you don't get good value for a shot down the middle of the fairway as you find yourself in the rough. Men & Women not allowed in the same bar which I find to be madness. Course is too short too, bigger hitters can easily overpower this course. In my opinion, for a better course in the same area for the same price, go to Bolton Old Links, a much better test of Golf with a "linksy" feel to it. Bolton gets a 6/10 for me.
By far the best golf course in Lancashire. Really well looked after, superb greens, beautiful fairways and a great pro shop. A very challenging course.
play this course on a regular basis. Always in great condition and in particular the greens, which are as good as anywhere I have played (inc open/ryder cup venues). Pro shop very friendly and helpful. Not the longest course,but, a true test and not many will play to handicap first time out.
