Thought I'd provide an update on my previous report after playing again the other day - and with a bit more experience under my belt! The course was in excellent condition, especially the greens which were pristine. Being a small course none of the rough is too awful - there just isn't the space - but the out of bounds are very tight. You have to think about every shot, more so at this course than any other I've played. Too timid and you get nowhere; take too much club and you're in trouble. There's just so little margin for error, which I think is what makes the course such a little gem. If I have a grumble it's that for of an evening's golf it's not fantastic value (£11). Possibly because it's a nine hole course there's no twilight rate. That said, it's hardly expensive, the club is very welcoming and the natives friendly! Hopefully I'll get back again before the nights start to draw in. My scores may be slightly lower now than before but that reflects perhaps a more informed opinion than any criticism of the course.

A lovely short course, challenging but not so awful as to put this absolute beginner of for life. The hazards live up to their name but the 'rough' was more forgiving. I played it last week when it had been cold & frosty for a while so the greens were hard and fast making it hard to get the ball to stick, but isn't that part of the fun? If I had a disappointment it was that a few of the greens were off limits due to the weather, but I can't complain about the club protecting its assets. The facilities are being improved but are already quite satisfactory, the staff are helpful, bar prices reasonable and general air very unpretentious. I can't wait to get round again - but when it's a bit warmer!

Played this course last night for the first time. As a novice i found it quite tricky but not too daunting. Played the second nine with two club members. Good lads and patient.(Cheers Jez and Pete). Will def play again if i get chance.

I have been a member of this coures for 12 years but in the last 4 years it has changed completely for the better. There are now 5 out of the 9 holes with some form of water hazard two of which you have to play over to the green and the par 5 is very difficult with a rating of 1 by the English Golf Union and designated one of the hardest par 5s in essex. It has out of bounds down the right hand side of the tee and trees with ponds behind down the left. If this was not daunting enough you have a dog leg which has a large deep pond at the apex of the dog leg and then a lateral water hazard diagonally across the last 150 yards of the hole towards the green Enjoy and take plenty of spare balls.

New to the Game and this course is a cracker as it is not to long but still quite tricky with a few water hazards and trees, friendly little club and good value for money
