16 reviews of Bidford Grange Hotel & Golf Complex

Having read the earlier reviews I was a little apprehansive about playing the course and what to expect. Played there today and I have to say...it was a good experience. I play of 6 and shot a 76 off the yellow tees (almost a 74). The course was in great condition for the time of year and the greens were fantastic. The website says that accuracy and nerves of steel are the order of the day and I would wholly agree with that. If you can keep it staight with the ability to shape it when required with good distance control then the course offers a real scoring opportunity. Slightly off and the bogies will begin to stack up. Managed to keep it out of the bunkers so I'm not sure what they were like although the sand looked quite fine...rather than the damp heavy stuff. All in all...a good course. Well worth it.

This course was terrible the facilities were awful there was no club shop no buggy hire the course it self was a disgrace and it was like walking a long par 3 from each green to tee i would not suggest playing here even to my worst enemy and even with the 2 for 1 offer it wasnt worth £10 even 1 of our 4 ball walked off after 12 holes avoid at all costs theres far better courses out there

I have never played a course where I have been treated so badly by the management. They couldn't care less about people using the course as long as they get their cash. The course could be very good but the greens are slow and there's not enough grass on the fairways so a lot of the time it's like hitting the ball off solid earth. The fairways are also cut too wide. Altogether a horrible experience. If you ask you get it cheap but you get what you pay for!

We have just played a Society event at this course, the food and location are very good , but the main let down is the course, its in a very poor state, the greens are pitted and potholes in them as if under they looked underfed and unwatered, 90% of the bunkers were empty of sand or GUR conditions, the length of the rough is a "joke" the tees very poor condition, but the most frustrating aspect is the cards figures they do not match the corse boards or the actual distance of holes ,,, if you play of the YELLOW tees this equates to the WHITE yardage on the scorecard---- Overall rating 3 out of 10

I have just returned from Bidford after a great weekend of golf. There was 18 of us and the general feed back was a positive one ! I read the comments prior to coming and i have to say they are a fair reflection on the course.Yes there is GUR on most of the holes where there is no sand in the bunkers but the layout of the course is good. Some good greens and some not so good but there is not too many courses out there that can boast 18 good greens. I have to say the staff in the hotel were great ! Not too many but they all work extremely hard. Food was good and plenty of it and rooms clean and tidy. We had a team event Billesdon v Rest of world( Leicestershire)and yes we won ! Ideal set up for large group of lads !

played here many times, but stopped 3 years ago because of the state of the greens, saw it on the telly hosting a euro tour game so thought it must have improved, I was sadly mistaken. The greens are still in a poor condition. I know the course is being renovated, but it was the last time I played here, apr 2006. This time we had the new score card with us, but played of the old yellows, the new tees are there but not got any grass on them yet. We had a nice breakfast and the staff were very friendly. I said the last time I played here that this could be one of the best courses around when improved and I,ll stick with that, I'll try it again in 3 years and hope it has been done by then

just returned from a round of golf at bidford grange and was very surprised at the quality of the course compared to eight months ago. considering the time of year the greens ran true and were in very good condition.the tees were under reconstruction but did not affect the playing conditions as we discovered later on that the course was being made more "user friendly" for the shorter hitters of the golf ball.by shorter i mean 200 yards! fairways were very good with a good covering of grass and very well looked after. water still came in to play but hey ho its there to catch us. bunkers were under reconstruction and were marked gur so no problems there. to be fair to management and staff at the course the quality of the course has come on leaps and bounds in the last eight months and further improvement will make it a top spot to play a taxing but pleasing game of golf. if i could have marked the course eight months ago she would have got a 5.now she would be given 7+ .

PLaying here is a strange experience but read on! Played on a sunny Saturday afternoon and the course was virtually empty, literally! Overall imporession is that this was once a very well designed, built and maintained course that has gone into disrepair and the current owners are in the process of renovating it. Tee's were in good condition, fairways well cut with no poor lies, greens generally OK, bit mossy and a few were bumpy, one or two had "rabit scars" but most were playable and I'm fussy about courses with rubbish greens! Although bear in mind its only early April. Off the fairway (but well out of play) the surroundings look a bit of a building site. Big yellow digger in the middle of the course is a giveaway and the driving range looks more like a bombing range! Almost all the bunkers had no sand in and GUR markers but I read on their website that they are in the process of renovating the bunkers - no green staff seen all afternoon though. Front 9 are nice holes, parkland feel, can be exposed in the wind, back 9 very challenging with water coming into play on about 7 of them. Some long holes too - one of the par 5's is a shade under 600 yards! Some walking between green and tee on a number of holes but prefer this to courses where the fairways are too hemmed in so not a problem. Overall impression is that this was, and could again be a really excellent course once some money has been pumped into it. Would I play it again - yes. Less than half the price (£20 for 18) than the main courses in Stratford (£40-50) and a really beautiful location.

ive just come back from a great weekend of golf at bidford grange, looking at some of the comments made by other people on this website they must have played at a different course. there were 40 members of our party and everyone commented on how professionally the course was run. tee times were prompt, the course played great, the staff were extremely polite and very accomodating. the rooms were of a good standard and the food was excellent i would whole heartedly recommend this golf course to anybody that wishes to take a society away for a challenging but very enjoyable weekend of golf.

Enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining and pleasant stay over the weekend of the 12th and 13th April. The staff were never anything less than friendly and welcoming, the food was good and the rooms clean and comfortable. The course offers a rewarding challenge. I'm aware that there have been mixed reviews regarding this site, but personally I found nothing to complain about. The current owners appear to be acting on any past criticisms, and I would happily recommend this venue.

I have just returned home after a 3 day golfing break at Bidford Grange. After reading all the negative press this place was getting, i was a little worried to say the least. However, it seems that the new owners are finally going in the right direction. From the moment you pull off the main road you feel welcome here. The bar (which is excellantly run by Tim) is very good and offers everything you would expect, the rooms are basic but clean and welcoming. As for the course, well what a first class challenge. Fairways are playing really well and the greens are in excellant condition. Well done to the new owners and our booking for 2009 is a cert.

I stayed at Bidford Grange last week and having read postive and negatives about this resort I was sceptical. There was 4 of us and I can safely say that I would definetly return. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is very clean. The Golf Course was in great condition considering the rain that has fallen and was fair on all handicaps. I would recommend Bidford Grange to anybody wanting a golf break on a budget and wanting nothing too formal. Thanks Bidford

What a challenging course, Arrived Wed 20th June at 10:00am, we were a party of 12 booked into the hotel. Played 27 holes 1st day, 36 holes 2nd day and 9 holes before we departed. The course itself is in good condition but could be a lot better with some tlc. Some bunkers require work but im sure the grounds men will get there soon. Bring plenty of balls as once your in the rough forget finding your ball. Plenty of water hazards also around the course. Highlight of the 2nd day was a 28 handicapper GOT A HOLE IN ONE on the 2nd hole & our society champion went round in 1 UNDER PAR. If you visit and play this course you will soon know that Under par is an achievement in itself. The hotel is having some renevasion work doing at the moment but still in good clean condition, The staff are very pleasant and helpfull. The rooms are basic but have hot showers, clean bedding and fresh towels each day we were there. All in all a great golfing break for the price, Give it 6 to 12 months and this place will be fantastic with some investment.
