I played the course in august and was not impressed,it has a shabby and unkempt feel about it and for the price is not good value, the greens were in terrible condition and the general look of the course is poor the sand in the bunkers looks like it came from a builders yard, the staff were very good but sitting on the weed infested patio after my game and having a steak sandwich was an experience to behold food good so was the theakstons bitter but the group of 4 members at the next table seemed to be having a contest of who could shout obscenities the loudest and as the 18 green is only yards away anyone trying to putt out was blasted with a chorus of abuse even if light hearted banter was intended it is not what i have come to expect from any private golf club,i will not be playing here again and will travel a few miles further down the east lancs rd to the worsley gc more expensive but a far nicer experience.

Played here for the first time in a Society event on 2nd June. Impressive entrance and friendly, helpful staff in the 'pro shop. Excellent bacon roll followed by a team event over the first 9 holes then back for lunch and single stableford over the full 18 in the afternoon. The front and back 9 are quite different. The front 9 are undulating with some ravines to carry and rather unpleasant smelling stagnant water on the 9th itself. There's only 1 par 5 on the course but the 2nd plays long enough for most players to need 3 to reach the green. The par 3s are tricky (in fact no-one actually hit the green to record a "nearest the pin" on the 16th but that probably tells you more about the standard of the Society than the difficulty of the hole). The back 9 are flatter and suffer a little from similarity in the lay out but overall an enjoyable track which I would play again. Greens were bare in patches and need some attention as do most of the bunkers which lacked any depth of sand.Lunchtime food was ok, no more than that and the portions were not over generous. Couldn't stay for dinner. Bar staff friendly and good ambience in a pleasant clubhouse.

Recently played for the first time in an open competition. Found the course very demanding, the front nine having several blind shots off the whites. An errant day with the driver is a card wrecker on the back nine especially. Very professional set up with a starter and excellent clubhouse. Take your A game and someone who has played the course before.

A beautifully maintained parkland course. Superb fairways and excellent greens. Back nine is well established with some difficult driving holes through heavily wooded areas. Take care on the 5th,11th and 16th for they can ruin a good score. A good test of a golf course, in excellent condition with a new and modern clubhouse. A pleasure to play.
